Female breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer. The biopsy of lymph nodes that receive drainage from the primary tumor are guided by Intraoperative Gamma Cameras (IGCs). Coded Aperture Imaging (CAI) has been proposed as an alternative collimation technique to produce an image, because it offers a better tradeoff between sensitivity and spatial resolution. However, it requires image reconstruction. Therefore, a Convolutional Encoder-Decoder Network (CED) was developed and trained on synthetic source images. It was quantitatively compared based on the reconstruction quality and the runtime with state-of-the-art methods, such as MURA Decoding and the iterative Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximization (MLEM) algorithm. Afterwards the axial resolution and 3D localization accuracy of the most commonly used methods were analyzed. In conclusion, the CED outperforms all methods regarding the quality. From the analytical methods the MLEM algorithm yields a higher quality and a better axial resolution, but is not suitable for IGCs in its current form, due to its computational complexity. MURA Decoding provides robust reconstructions. Its fast computation enables 3D reconstruction which allows the localization of point-like sources with an accuracy comparable to that of stereoscopic cameras.

Stattdessen konnten amerikanische Flugzeuge, die von drei Flugzeugträgern aus flogen, die sich im Dezember 1941 von Pearl Harbor entfernt hatten, die japanische Flotte anpeilen und versenkten vier japanische Flugzeugträger, wodurch die japanische Marine dauerhaft lahmgelegt wurde. Die Schlacht von Midway war eine der ersten großen Seeschlachten in der Geschichte, in der die gegnerischen Flotten einander nie sahen oder miteinander in Kontakt kamen.
Als die Schlacht von Midway zu Ende war, war die Niederlage so verheerend, dass sie bis auf die höchsten Stellen der japanischen Regierung geheim gehalten wurde. Neben dem Verlust von Hunderten von Flugzeugen und über 3.000 getöteten Männern waren die vier verlorenen japanischen Flugzeugträger im Vergleich zu dem einen verlorenen amerikanischen Flugzeugträger angesichts der enormen Überlegenheit der Amerikaner im Schiffbau von entscheidender Bedeutung. Die Schlacht um Midway hätte aber auch leicht anders ausgehen können. Japan begann die Schlacht mit mehr Flugzeugträgern, mehr und besseren Flugzeugen und erfahreneren Besatzungen als die Amerikaner, und wenn die Schlacht im Korallenmeer ein Hinweis darauf war, hatten beide Seiten einen unwiderlegbaren Beweis für die Vorherrschaft der Flugzeugträger im Pazifik. Die Tragweite früherer Zusammenstöße wurde nun deutlich, und die Kämpfe waren nun eindeutig eine Frage des Timings. Die Trägerflotten waren unglaublich mächtig und von entscheidender Bedeutung, doch gleichzeitig waren sie äußerst verwundbare Waffensysteme. Die Protagonisten auf Midway setzten eine neu aufkommende Marinedoktrin in die Praxis um, die für die Seite, die sich verkalkuliert hatte, letztlich eine schreckliche Strafe bedeutete. Der Kampf Flugzeugträger gegen Flugzeugträger war erwachsen geworden.
