SolidCAM is a new generation CAD / CAM system developed by the Israeli company SolidCAM Ltd (Official distributor in Russia - Consistent Software). This system is a complete solution for the automation of metalworking production. Using a wide range of SolidCAM proposed strategies for turning, milling, turning, milling and EDM, the technologist can quickly prepare the necessary set of control programs for machining the product.

In addition to the already mentioned capabilities of 2.5- and 3-coordinate processing, SolidCAM offers tools for identifying and finalizing sections that have not been processed in previous transitions. It is possible to create a database of typical technological processes. Once created, such a parameterized technological process can be repeatedly used in the future, which significantly reduces the time for production preparation, increases the reliability of developed programs, unifies the style of technological developments, guarantees the use of only optimal processing technologies and ensures the independence of production from the human factor. The absence of stabbing is guaranteed by the availability of control and visualization of machining.

Multi-axis machining
SolidCAM offers various tools for creating multi-axis machining control programs at 4- and 5-axis machining centers. The model is installed in a user-defined processing plane, after which the system automatically calculates all the necessary offset and rotation parameters for the part zero. As a result, the preparatory-final transition time is significantly reduced and the processing accuracy is increased.

Turning and turning and milling
SolidCAM has a wide range of functions for automating the creation of control programs for turning and turning-milling. SolidCAM supports various types of tools, which makes it possible to effectively perform longitudinal turning, trimming, grooving, etc. In addition, SolidCAM allows you to automatically rough and finish machining complex contours. Support for a rotary tool allows milling and drilling transitions at machining centers.

Electroerosive processing

The core goal of Memory Pictures is to allow to keep your memories alive by assisting you in embedding the location and journal entries within the photo header. We all take photos with our digital cameras and smartphones and it certainly is a great way to look back at where we came from and where we have been to. However, a picture alone may not paint the whole story.


Utilising the already available resources built into the JPEG photos is the ability to store vast amount of information. Each time a digital camera takes a photo, all the settings such as shutter speeds, f-stops and so on are stored in the EXIF metadata stored in the photo. Smartphones as well some digital cameras comes with built-in GPS which will add the GPS coordinates of your location to each picture taken. Definitely a great thing to have. However, bad weather and a whole host of issues may render the GPS coordinates to be inaccurate. Also the GPS coordinates is of your position and not the position of your subject.

One of Memory Pictures goal is to allow you to accurately add or modify that GPS Coordinates with ease. This make use of the OpenStreet Maps to provide a visual map and the address query features. With this map support, it makes it easy to find the location and pin it to the photo or photos. Everything is done visually. Memory Pictures Creator will query OpenStreet Map database to get the Place, Address and Country which you can customize.

The EXIF's User Comment is also another useful component of the EXIF metadata but it is not really widely used but it can be very beneficial when used. Instead of developing a diary application or penning down your thoughts on a separate location, Memory Pictures now let you store them right inside your photos which you can view from any website or apps which supports it, including Memory Pictures.

Modern day Smartphones are widely used as digital cameras. One beautiful thing is that the Smartphones is that they come with GPS and does embed the location as to where the photo was taken into the photo so you can view back and know where those magnificent memories were captured in. It is great if the subject is right in front of you but at times we do take pictures from a distance but the phone only records the GPS of where you are standing at.

As we have mentioned before, StartIsBack comes with a multitude of configuration settings; these concern the Start menu items and behavior (e.g. display My Computer as a link, hide Default Programs and Device and Printers), appearance (e.g. disable taskbar translucency, hide the Start button) and switching rules (e.g. show the desktop when logging onto the PC, switch to the last used application when clicking the Start screen).

Other options refer to uncluttering items in the Start screen (by renaming the Start screen to "Apps" and by keeping only the modern apps in that location), the advanced system commands menu (combine the Start button context menu with the one of the Start screen) and Windows tweaks (e.g. store and display recently opened programs). Furthermore, you can disable StartIsBack for the current user.

StartIsBack does not put a strain on the computer's overall performance, as it uses a pretty low amount of CPU and system memory. It is pretty responsive to key strokes and mouse commands. We have not encountered any issues throughout our testing; StartIsBack did not hang, crash or display error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive yet rich features, the application should please users of all skill levels.
