WBD(Wipe Bad Disk) can thoroughly wipe disks with bad sectors in a hierarchical and elegant way. Even the disk has no bad sectors, you can also take advantage of the WBD's unique wiping algorithm to gain high security degree in a short . WBD wipes the disk through 3 stages(stage 0-stage 2), 16 passes, and multiple levels, resulting in a new security-degree to -cost relationship(see the figure below) in contrast to the linear functional relationship of traditional disk shredding software. This means if you can not wait the wiping process to complete and stop it earlier, you can gain higher security degree than conventional disk wipers costing the same amount of .If your disk developed bad sectors, or just too old to use, you may plan to discard it or sell it to somebody else. The problem is that your private information including all kinds of accounts, passwords, emails, medical records, private photos, financial information, business data, etc., are still present on the magnetic fields on the disk platter surface even after you delete the files, empty the recycle bin, format the volumes, or repartition the disk. Windows only marks them unused but not really erases the data. Many undelete tools, data recovery software in the market can restore the data on the disk easily. To permanently destruct the proprietary information, you need specialized tools. These tools are called disk wipe software, data sanitation software, file shredder, or disk eraser. Generally, these tools are classified into two categories: those with file system awareness allowing secure removal of individual files and folders, and those blind to file system disposing of the disk as a whole. All these tools can dismantle the confidential data and prevent recovery of those data for healthy disks but not perfectly for disks with bad sectors. Use WBD(Wipe Bad Disk) to completely and permanently eliminate all data on the disk with bad sectors beyond recovery and protect your privacy. WBD supports all types of storage devices including hard disks, USB devices, etc. Since WBD does not care about the file system, the devices to be wiped can be formatted with any file system such as FAT, NTFS, etc.

Setting up the app takes little and minimum effort. However, it is required to enter an email address to register MyKeyFinder for free. Scanning the computer for serial keys may take a while.

The list of results shows the app name, registry key and serial number. Separate entries can be copied to the Clipboard for closer scrutiny and safekeeping. It is also possible to print selected entries as well as to export them to PDF format. A search function is available for dealing with large amounts of data.

As far as program settings are concerned, you can switch to another language for the UI, set MyKeyFinder to automatically check for updates at startup and to confirm ignoring operations for an item, as well as to create a white list or black list.

MyKeyFinder has a good response and runs on a low quantity of CPU and RAM, so it does not concern the computer's overall performance. It can be minimized to the taskbar to become non-intrusive. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since MyKeyFinder did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, it can be handled by all user levels.

SafeCP uses raw disk access to read all common filesystems.​

Available for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8.x, or 10, you can read FAT, NTFS, HFS+, exFAT, ReFS, APFS, EXT, UFS partitions. Both MBR and GPT partitioning schemes are supported. A common use of SafeCP is to recover user profile folders from externally connected disks. Whether the disk is from a Windows, Mac or Linux computer, SafeCP makes it easy to retrieve the files. Although not a substitute for data recovery service, disks with bad sectors or filesystem corruption can benefit from SafeCP's cautious approach to reading filesystems. It's common for disks with bad sectors to stall Windows Explorer due to automatic drive letter assignment. You can use the easy to access controls to disable automount. Then you can connect your disk and open it with SafeCP.

Transferring files from a Windows disk is easier since SafeCP does not process file permissions. The disk is opened in read-only mode so that the source is not modified.
