Actual Transparent Window has option to set transparency only when window becomes inactive. And when you activate this window it becomes non-transparent again. This option may be especially useful for your instant messenger (ICQ, Windows Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger or any other).
Ghost mode:
You can also activate the ghost mode. In this case all mouse clicks and moves to be made through the transparent window to underlying windows.
Apply transparency effect while window is moved or is resized:
Apply transparency effect only when you move/drag or resize the window across the desktop. Note that this does not affect your transparency setting for windows while they are not being moved or resized.
Toggle transparency\opaque window state by double click on title bar:
To toggle a window from transparent to opaque, double-click the title bar. To toggle a window from opaque to transparent, double-click the title bar again.
"Make Transparent" button:
The new "Make Transparent" button is may be added to a window title bar. Now you can switch the semi-transparency on/off just by pressing it. You can select a different transparency level for any window on-the-fly, while it is open! Right-click the "Make Transparent" title button to display its context menu where you can choose one of the predefined transparency levels. It's a very gorgeous effect, try it - and you'll like it very much!

Cycling '74 has released version 8 of Max and the company is calling it "the closest thing to a mind-expanding drug Max has ever had". The visual programming language has taken on a raft of new improvements in the latest iteration, most notably the introduction of the new MC. objects.

MC, we're presuming, stands for multi-channel and Cycling '74 is sure it will "transform how you imagine sound design". It makes patches with 100 channels of audio look as simple as those with a single channel.

It seems MC will give you the ability to manipulate multiple audio channels and operations with fewer objects.

Much of the development in version 8 has been focussing on performance. Cycling '74 now claim that Max will launch 20 times faster on Windows than before and load patches up to four times as quick. Performance as a whole is improved, with complex UI operations being significantly more responsive.

Another big update is the ability to control your patches with hardware, without the need to patch. In the new Mappings Mode, you can assign physical controls to your patch in just three steps; simply enter Mappings Mode, select a slider and then move your controller - done.

Other improvements include a new Search Sidebar which allows you access to thousands of Max examples and tutorials that ship with Max, along with results from web forums and in-depth articles.

To launch the popup menu, click the QAP icon in the Notification zone, hit the Middle Mouse Button or press Windows+W (these triggers can be changed in Options). In the SETTINGS window, customize your QAP menu. Review shortcuts assigned to favorites or submenus in the HOTKEYS window.

To quickly ADD a new favorite FOLDER to your popup menu: 1) go to a frequently used folder, 2) click the QAP hotkey and choose ADD THIS FOLDER, 3) give the folder a short name ans save it.
