StopWinUpdates is app to enable or disable Windows and Store Automatic Updates.StopWinUpdates is portable, but it acts and looks like an installer which we found confusing. Double-click on the executable and choose your options. By default, if you want to disable Windows Update, that's checked by default. You will see prompts, again, that makes it appear the program is installing, but it's just applying your changes.

StopWinUpdates will exit when completed and you'll want to reboot for the changes to apply. If you change your mind, rerun the app and make any changes you need and restart again.

Additionally, there are registry hacks to block updates on Windows 7 and 8.1.

Overall, StopWinUpdates is another excellent app to disable or enable Windows and Store Automatic Updates if you don't mind the installer style way that StopWinUpdates works.

National Instruments (NI), has announced the release of LabVIEW 2018 Run-Time Engine, is the driver that enables your computer to run software built using LabVIEW. It also enables your web browser to display LabVIEW VIs that are in web pages and unlocks built shared libraries to be usable. Without it, or with the wrong version installed, you will get an error message when you try to run your LabVIEW built applications (similar to the image shown).

About LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. The LabVIEW Run-Time Engine must be installed on any system where you plan to run executables or shared libraries built with the LabVIEW Application Builder. The major version of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine must match the major version of the LabVIEW Development Environment that was used to create the executable.

Note that EXEs built in a specific version of LabVIEW can't be run in a newer version of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Use the same version of LabVIEW Run-Time Engine to run the EXE as the LabVIEW version that you used to build it.

Note: Starting from 2017, the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine is backward compatible. You can load and run applications built in older versions of LabVIEW without mass compiling VIs or rebuilding binaries in the current version of LabVIEW.

Multiple versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine can be installed on the same computer as long as the major version number or the bitness is different. On a 64-bit system it is possible to install 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine with the same version number side-by-side. If you install an SP1 version of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine on a system that already has the non-SP1 version installed, the SP1 version will replace the non-SP1 version.

About LabVIEW Run-Time Engine Web Browser Plug-in. The LabVIEW Run-Time Engine Web Browser Plug-in (formerly known as the LabVIEW Minimum Run-Time Engine) is a smaller download intended for viewing VIs embedded in a web page (Remote Front Panels). It does not contain the full run-time engine and is not recommended for running executables. It is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The bitness of the Web Browser Plug-in must match the bitness of the web browser being used. The standard LabVIEW Run-Time Engine includes the Web Browser Plug-in.

About NI LabView. LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) is a graphical programming language that uses icons instead of lines of text to create applications. In contrast to text-based programming languages that use instructions to determine the order of program execution, LabVIEW uses dataflow programming. In data flow programming, the flow of data through the nodes on the block diagram determines the execution order of the VIs and functions.
