Why RAID gets damaged
Recover software or hardware RAID of any type: JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, RAID 50, RAID 6, RAID 60, etc.
Hard disk failure
Both hard disk types, HDD and SSD, have a limited operational life. Certainly, server-type NAS or SCSI disks can last longer than their SATA counterparts intended for home use only, but there is no such thing as a hard disk that works endlessly. For most RAID arrays, the day when one or two disks fail means loss of all information, from all disks within this array. Reliability of the entire array decreases with every disk which is added to it.
Accidental array rebuilding
Mistakes when replacing one of the disks within the storage system, accidental "rebuilding" of the array instead of "restoring" it, disconnecting and reconnecting the disks in a wrong order, incorrect RAID initialization or rebuild - any of these things will certainly result in the loss of information. After such errors, RAID can't restore itself automatically.
A controller bug or failure
A controller is the element containing information of critical importance which is vital for building a disk array and gaining access to all of the files stored on the disks. A controller failure may both result in losing service data and cause several disks to fail. The most expensive controllers use an additional battery and non-volatile memory. Such elements improve the whole system's reliability and are supposed to help save data even if a power interruption occurs.
A motherboard failure
Creating a RAID based on specific motherboard features is a cheaper (though less reliable) solution in comparison with buying an expensive controller. Motherboard failures, botched BIOS updates, low CMOS battery, power surges, disconnecting or reconnecting disks - all these things may cause your RAID to crash. As the entire system is very sensitive to all kinds of power issues, problems with your power supply unit may cause crashes as well.
A system crash
Software RAID systems based on the functionality offered by an operating system - Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, Ubuntu - depend largely on the health of that operating system. Upgrading your hardware, or updating other software may cause errors that prevent the computer from booting and make the data inside such array inaccessible.
Unlike hardware RAID systems, the software-based arrays are made of logical partitions rather than physical disks. Operations that involve formatting or removing partitions can easily destroy such array.

Hardentools is a collection of simple utilities designed to disable a number of "features" exposed by operating systems (Microsoft Windows, for now), and primary consumer applications. These features, commonly thought for Enterprise customers, are generally useless to regular users and rather pose as dangers as they are very commonly abused by attackers to execute malicious code on a victim's computer. The intent of this tool is to simply reduce the attack surface by disabling the low-hanging fruit. Hardentools is intended for individuals at risk, who might want an extra level of security at the price of some usability. It is not intended for corporate environments.


Disabled Features
Generic Windows Features
Disable Windows Script Host. Windows Script Host allows the execution of VBScript and Javascript files on Windows operating systems. This is very commonly used by regular malware (such as ransomware) as well as targeted malware.
Disabling AutoRun and AutoPlay. Disables AutoRun / AutoPlay for all devices. For example, this should prevent applications from automatically executing when you plug a USB stick into your computer.
Disables powershell.exe, powershell_ise.exe, and cmd.exe execution via Windows Explorer. You will not be able to use the terminal, and it should prevent the use of PowerShell by malicious code trying to infect the system.
Sets User Account Control (UAC) to always ask for permission (even on configuration changes only) and to use "secure desktop."
Disable file extensions mainly used for malicious purposes. Disables the ".hta", ".js", ".JSE", ".WSH",."WSF", ".scf", ".scr", ".vbs", ".vbe" and ".pif" file extensions for the current user (and for system-wide defaults, which is only relevant for newly created users).
Shows file extensions and hidden files in explorer.
Windows Defender Attack Surface Reduction (ASR). Enables various remediations using ASR starting with Windows 10 / 1709 (Block executable content from email client and webmail, Block Office applications from creating child processes, Block Office applications from creating executable content & from injecting code into other processes, Block JavaScript or VBScript from launching downloaded executable content, Block execution of potentially obfuscated scripts, Block Win32 API calls from Office macro). Needs the following prerequisites to work: (1) Windows 10 version >= 1709, (2) You are using Windows Defender Antivirus as the sole antivirus protection app. (3) Real-time protection is enabled in Windows Defender.
Microsoft Office
Disable Macros. Macros are at times used by Microsoft Office users to script and automate certain activities, especially calculations with Microsoft Excel. However, macros are currently a security plague, and they are widely used as a vehicle for compromise. With Hardentools, macros are disabled, and the "Enable this Content" notification is disabled, too, to prevent users from being tricked.
Disable OLE object execution. Microsoft Office applications can embed so-called "OLE objects" and execute them, at times also automatically (for example, through PowerPoint animations). Windows executables, such as spyware, can also be embedded and executed as an object. This is also a security disaster that we observed used time and time again, particularly in attacks against activists in repressed regions. Hardentools entirely disables this functionality.
Disabling ActiveX. Disables ActiveX Controls for all Office applications.
Disable DDE. Disables DDE for Word and Excel
Acrobat Reader
Disable JavaScript in PDF documents. Acrobat Reader allows executing JavaScript code from within PDF documents. This is widely abused for exploitation and malicious activity.
Disable execution of objects embedded in PDF documents. Acrobat Reader also allows the execution of embedded objects by opening them. This would normally raise a security alert, but given that legitimate uses of this are rare and limited, Hardentools disables this.
Switch on the Protected Mode (enabled by default in current versions)
Switch on Protected View for all files from untrusted sources
Switch on Enhanced Security (enabled by default in current versions)

Argente System Repair is aimed at diagnosing the Windows system, allowing you to analyze key areas of the computer, identify errors and quickly fix them to ensure high performance.


Three scan modes available
The application is extremely easy to use, mostly due to the user-friendly and minimalistic GUI. The main window displays information and statistical data about the last scan and the number of repaired items.
Below, you can find options to select the scan type. Argente System Repair comes with three different scan modes, each with its own particularities. In the 'Simple' mode, Argente System Repair only analyzes environment variables and errors in the file system and the WMI repository. The 'Recommended' mode, which is the default, selects all the scan areas, including Windows components, installation files and installed packages. It allows you to defragment and recover drive C.
The 'Custom' mode is, as its name suggests, the way to go if you want to freely select the actions to perform and device upon the scan yourself. And speaking of custom mode, you are also free to create an exclusion list to leave out any application or Windows section that you don't want analyzed.
Get info on your computer's health and status
Once you start the scan, Argente System Repair updates the number of detected and scanned elements.
The analysis results are shown, allowing you to explore them and check out details about the application's findings. However, during our test, we were not able to read all the details. This application can get a primary diagnostic when you need to assess your PC's health.

PlanePlotter shows a table display of messages received and decoded from live aircraft transmissions.
Data saving
PlanePlotter archives all the digital data that it receives and decodes to a log file.
Chart display
PlanePlotter plots aircraft positions, altitudes and times decoded from the message traffic that it receives. These include embedded position reports, AMDAR reports and ADS reports contained in ACARS messages, ADS-B position reports received by the Kinetic SBS1™ or AirNav System RadarBox™ Mode-S receivers, and position reports on HF using Charles Brain's PC-HFDL software. The plot can be superimposed on a suitable aeronatical chart that you have prepared, or PlanePlotter can download satellite imagery and plot the aircraft symbols on that. Where altitude information is available (eg Mode-S messages), you can select the data by altitude band to distinguish low level and high level traffic.
Google Earth server
If you are receiving Mode-S ADS-B position reports, PlanePlotter can interface to Google Earth to display aircraft positions over the Google Earth base map. It can even give you a dynamic real-time view from the flight deck of an aircraft that you designate.
Direction finding
PlanePlotter can determine and display the direction of any transmission using a simple passive antenna switch. This allows aircraft to be located even if they are not equipped with ACARS or Mode-S/ADS-B.
