To authentically recreate the experience of recalling presets on the original hardware, Model 80 offers the 40 original factory presets with buttons on the programmer to call them up. The five voices and their relationship are painstakingly replicated to create the real sound, feel, and experience of the original.
To accurately capture the original hardware, Softube carefully reproduced phase relationships and modulation polarity, authentically emulating the sound, modulation, and feel of this mythical synth. Plus, an Invert Voice Mod button on the side panel lets you take this even further than the original.
On the right of the Model 80 GUI is a 'hidden' expander panel that lets you tweak some details of the Voice Mod behavior and performance aspects of the Model 80. Click on the wooden border at the far right and the slide-in expander panel will pop up, revealing another 8 parameters for tweaking.

About Fire Filters
Audio can be processed by a several different types of filter, including band-pass, notch, all-pass, and beyond. Each filter response has its own specific field of use. For this first Fire series release, we have chosen to present variations of two of the most commonly used types: high-pass (or low cut) and low-pass (high cut). There are 13 variants of high-pass (HP) filters and the same number of low-pass (LP) filters, for a total of 26 different filters.

What you get
Mystic consists of three incredibly streamlined yet impactful sections. A Pure vacuum tube Pre/saturator Module with High and Low Pass filters, an easy-to-use Baxandall type EQ section, and finally, a 'Frankenstein' optical limiter section greatly improved compared to the original module by adding extra controls to provide greater versatility.

Why did we choose a Baxandall EQ for Mystic?
Mystic is a versatile tool, perfect for tracking, mixing, and mastering music, but in our opinion it gives its best as a processor for the Mix and Master Buss, and so what better choices for this section than a Hyper EQ, which is extremely intuitive, adding brilliance and crisp airiness to your mixes without harshness, and achieves a fat, mud-free low end thanks to the low-high smooth, natural, gentle slope shelving filters. These EQ curves offer a wide bandwidth and minimal phase distortion, enabling drastic boosts and cuts without unwanted artifacts, like slicing through butter. This tool isn't designed for radical sound sculpting, but it excels in enhancing sources with subtle and unobtrusive sweetening. In fact, there are instances where you might hardly notice it's engaged at all, and we mean this in an extremely positive manner! This is our homage to the priceless legacy of Peter Baxandall, whose exceptional tone control innovation from the 1950s has gracefully enhanced countless hi-fi systems worldwide.

Opal is the official plugin recreation of the Oram Sonics Hi-Def 55 Limited Edition Equalizer.

Opal fully recreates the exquisite Oram Sonics Hi-Def 55 EQ, which was faithfully sampled to replicate what is possibly the most advanced system ever designed by John Oram. Opal incorporates all the magic that Oram Sonics offers with its impressive machines, whether mixing or mastering, while simultaneously giving you more flexibility than ever before.
English Charm, Refined Sound
The Hi-Def 55 is made in England, and is built to extremely high standards. It is characterized by an extremely musical sound, made possible by an intelligently designed set of features: 8 bands of overlapping adjustment per channel, the unique combining of shelf and bell curves, a "detail" function, and much more.
The Opal collection includes two plugins. One is the standard version of the Hi-Def 55, as originally designed by John Oram. The second one provides extended functionality by adding a preamp input trim, mid/side, pan, and spread controls, as well as an independent channel output control.
About John Oram
John Oram is a legendary name in the electronic musical industry, whose designs have been nominated for 23 Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards. His creative talents as a musician, producer, touring drummer, mixing and technical engineer have lead him to work with some of the most important bands and audio companies from the early 60s onward, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Vox and Trident Audio.
As part of the Vox team he was the designer of the Wah-Wah, The Fuzz Box and Continental Organ, leading to the circuitry design for the VOX AC50 and the Super Beatle amplifiers.
