The company Graphisoft has introduced a new version of the famous software for BIM-design - Archicad 25 . Improvements affected both the workflow - the algorithms for working in the program and visualization tools were updated - and the global infrastructure elements of the entire Graphisoft ecosystem - the integration of BIMx and BIMcloud products was strengthened, the updated Forward user support system was launched.
After analyzing the innovations, we can conclude that Graphisoft intend not only to maintain the position of the leader in the BIM technologies market, but also to strengthen the status of Archicad as a multifunctional and universal platform capable of solving any architectural design problems at all stages of the building's life cycle - from developing an idea to operating an object.
The main focus of Archicad, according to Graphisoft, is the mutual integration of workflows and interdisciplinary communication. Indeed, the developers sought to expand the interoperability with various programs, including their direct competitors - Revit from Autodesk, to facilitate and maximize collaboration between customers, architects, engineers and builders through updated presentation, visualization and communication tools.
Archicad supports over 40 export and import formats, including DWG, PDF and XLS, as well as BIM IFC and BCF formats, which are cross-platform data exchange standards.
In Archicad 25, the coordination process has been seriously optimized, now the "Anchor Point" is integrated directly into the program interface. Anchor Point simplifies and makes the process of matching models from different design systems easier for all design teams. The tool works not only with IFC files, but also with traditional formats such as DWG.
Integration with Revit has been improved: the new Archicad supports RFA and RVT files up to Revit 2021, allows the most accurate transfer of the project model from the Archicad environment to Revit.
The import and export of Rhino 6 and 7 files has been improved, allowing you to seamlessly use Rhino's organic shaping tools in the design process.
The process of cooperation with MEP specialists and design engineers has been simplified. Remember that starting from version 24, MEP Modeler is included in the standard Archicad distribution and does not require a separate installation.
Improved interaction with Solibri, one of the most advanced solutions for analyzing information models of buildings of architectural and engineering projects for errors. Now the elements selected in the Solibri connection are displayed in Archicad with the view settings already set.
Improvements to collaboration tools - BIMx and BIMcloud - deserve special mention. BIMx is one of the most popular applications for project presentation and coordination of all participants in the construction process, which makes it possible even for a non-professional to study architectural solutions and evaluate the results of work during a virtual walk through the designed building. BIMcloud is a centralized space for interaction between all participants in the design and storage of BIM files. It allows you to exchange files, store projects in the cloud, and provide shared access to documentation, regardless of the complexity of the project, territorial location or speed of the Internet connection.
The new 3D BIMx real-time rendering engine is now available for Android users as well. In earlier versions of Archicad, it only worked on iOS.
BIMcloud has increased its storage space to 100,000 files per account, allowing architects to put more files in one place.
In an upcoming Archicad Update, BIMcloud will include a BIMx web viewer. Any 2D and 3D files can be opened directly from the BIMcloud app with a browser installed, enhancing collaboration between professionals.
