For more than a decade, the Blessing of the Energy Centers teachings and practice have been a cornerstone of Dr Joe Dispenza’s work.
Originally conceived as long-form meditations working sequentially with the eight energy centers of the body, they comprise some of our community’s most beloved creations – and are often cited as instrumental in stories of healing and transformation.

Located at the base of the spine, the first energy center is the center of procreation, elimination, and sexuality. Driven to exchange energy by releasing energy, it contains an enormous amount of passion and energy – enough to create another life. Count Your Blessings I is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this first center, which include:
- Reproductive organs – perineum, pelvic floor, penis, prostate, vagina
- Secondary sex hormones – testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone

Anchored in what is commonly referred to as the solar plexus, the third energy center is in the center of the gut, right below the breastbone – where the rib cage meets in the middle of the chest. It’s associated with our will, our ability to respond, take action, and overcome adversity. At its core, the third center is our internal resource of power. Count Your Blessings III is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this center, which include:
- Digestive, biliary, endocrine, and elimination organs – stomach, pancreas, small intestine, liver, gallbladder, spleen, adrenal glands, kidneys

In this work, we refer to the fourth energy center as the heart. Located behind the breastbone, the heart is the center of creation. It’s the “union of opposites” – where polarities merge and wholeness begins. As humans, we are both animal and divine – and the heart is the bridge to our divinity. It’s where we feel elevated emotions such as love, joy, gratitude, forgiveness, trust, care, kindness, and inspiration.
Our research shows that when energy moves into the heart, it functions like a “springboard” – causing that energy to move directly to the brain. The heart sends a signal to the brain that it’s time to create, and we begin to imagine and dream. Count Your Blessings IV is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this center, which include:
- The heart
- The lungs
- The thymus gland (the body’s main immunity gland, known as the “fountain of youth”)
- Oxytocin (the “feel-good” hormone)
- T-cells (infection-fighting white blood cells) and 1,400 other immune-system-stimulating chemicals

The passage between the heart and the brain, the fifth energy center lives in the middle of the throat. It governs metabolism, tissue development, growth and repair, aspects of cardiovascular health, and nervous system regulation.
The fifth center is where we express the energy that’s ascended to and transformed in the fourth center; the heart – giving voice to love, gratitude, compassion, and creative inspiration. It’s where we articulate our highest truth. Count Your Blessings V is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this center, which include:
- The thyroid and parathyroid glands
- The salivary glands
- Neck tissues and throat – including vocal chords
- All thyroid hormones – including T3 and T4 (those most commonly involved in thyroid disorders)

In the space between the back of your throat and the back of your head, directly in line with the bridge of your nose, you’ll find the sacred sixth energy center, the pineal gland. Associated with the door to higher dimensions, the pineal gland often is called the third eye – though it’s really the first eye, the eye with which you see “beyond the veil.”
Governing circadian rhythms – wake-sleep cycles – the pineal gland is responsible for serotonin production and melatonin synthesis. It also can produce derivatives of melatonin, what Dr Joe refers to as “molecules of the mystical” – those chemicals that help you tune in to higher frequencies beyond the five senses.
In terms of the mundane, this center allows you to be conscious of inhabiting a body in space and time. In terms of the mystical, the activated pineal gland functions like an internal “radio receiver,” awakening the alchemist within ... and allowing you to overcome your body, space, and time. Count Your Blessings VI is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this center, which include:
- The pineal gland
- Serotonin and melatonin (and its chemical derivatives; the “molecules of the mystical”)

A tiny gland with mighty power, the pituitary gland – your seventh energy center – is located at the base of your brain below the hypothalamus. This “master gland” lives in the limbic brain, the seat of the autonomic nervous system. It governs and creates harmony in a downward cascade of chemical messages from the center of your brain ... to your pineal gland ... to your thyroid ... your thymus ... adrenal glands ...pancreas ... all the way to your sexual glands.
In this way, the pituitary gland masterfully influences all other energy centers – and their associated systems and functions – throughout the body. Count Your Blessings VII is designed to bless and balance the glands, organs, hormones, and functions associated with this center, which include:
- The pituitary – or “master” – gland, which influences each of the glands, systems, and functions of the other energy centers in the body
- Growth hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones, prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), vasopressin, oxytocin
- Blood pressure, body temperature, and pain regulation
- Involuntary functions including hunger, thirst, and sleep

Beyond the physical body, approximately eight inches (16-17 centimeters) above your head, is the eighth energy center – the only center with no connection to matter. While the seven other energy centers are plexuses of neurons associated with glands, hormones, chemicals, and functions within the body, eight is a frequency with no connection to anything physical or material. The Egyptians called it the Ka; we think of it as the door to the cosmos – a portal beyond space and time.
Count Your Blessings VIII is designed to bless and balance this cosmic portal. When you activate the eighth energy center, you connect to insights, epiphanies, and creative “downloads” of frequency and infinite information. This information then transmits to your physical brain and body – not from memories stored in your nervous system, but from the unified field. From source. Flooded with gratitude, satisfaction, love for life, and joy for existence, you feel whole. You feel worthy to receive. And your body is ready for transmissions of pure energy and light ... the very force of life.
Working With the Energy Centers
Each of the body’s eight energy centers has its own unique energy, or frequency, that carries a corresponding level of consciousness, its own mind or intent that expresses specific information, its own associated anatomy, glands, hormones, and chemistry. Each center has its own plexus of neurons – a “mini-brain” – that differs from every other center.
When you direct your attention to an individual energy center – and where you place your attention is where you place your energy – you’re moving energy into its neurological tissue. This, in turn, activates that center – and can cause physiological changes that affect its cells, tissues, organs, and glands.
To work with this center of information, you need to get in to your “operating system” to access it. All the meditations in the Count Your Blessings series are designed to work with these mini-brains in this way.
Since each energy center is under the control of the autonomic nervous system – the automatic system regulating all the metabolic functions happening behind the scenes of your awareness – the only way to influence this system is to move out of your conscious mind and slow your brain waves down.
And so, in each of the Count Your Blessings meditations, you’ll slow your brain waves down from beta, to alpha, and even to theta – a highly suggestible state where you can begin to influence the autonomic nervous system to manufacture a pharmacy of chemicals equal to your intention.
Then, you’ll be prompted to direct your attention to the center you’re working with – what’s known as convergent focus – and bring it to life with your attention and energy. Find it. Feel it. Pay more attention to it. And give it your energy. You’ll follow that by practicing divergent focus – opening your awareness to the space around that center and fortifying its field.
Now, tuned in to energy and information, you’ll set your intention – in clear and simple terms – to balance this center’s energy by organizing the information it receives and transmits to affect your biology. This will change for each energy center – depending on the organs, glands, hormones, systems, and functions associated with it.
