Theresa Bourke, "Reconstructing the Work of Teacher Educators: Finding Spaces in Policy Through Agentic Approaches ―Insights from a Resea"
English | ISBN: 9811929033 | 2022 | 299 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
This book examines agentic approaches by which teacher educators navigate a highly regulated environment. It investigates how teacher educators are responding to such regulation by employing approaches such as exploratory and case study research designs. This book analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to understand the diverse, innovative and critical perspectives of teacher educators who are guided by state and federal level initiatives to enhance the quality Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programs. Prominent educational theoretical perspectives are also used in this book to inform data analysis and to illuminate the empirically based findings.
This book showcases research-informed insights for the global education community from leading researchers from across a number of teacher education institutions, locally and otherwise. By adopting an 'activist' approach, this book positions teacher educators' research and contribution to the field as agentive and pro-active.

Recruitment and Retention Lessons for the New Orleans Police Department
Recruitment and Retention : Lessons for the New Orleans Police Department By Bernard D. Rostker; William M. Hix; Jeremy M. Wilson
2007 | 49 Pages | ISBN: 0833041428 | PDF | 1 MB
Since Hurricane Katrina, resignations from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) have increased, and the department went more than a year without recruiting enough candidates to justify a police academy training course. The authors present practical recommendations for change that could help the NOPD improve recruiting and retention. Issues addressed include the lack of affordable post-Katrina housing, the fact that the families of many police officers no longer live in the New Orleans area, the destroyed departmental infrastructure, and a budget that does not provide enough resources to meet basic needs. They focus on compensation, including housing; the promotion process and the career management system; recruiting; the mix of officers and civilians; and ways to improve the morale of the NOPD. The recommendations, which are specifically tailored to the unique circumstances of the NOPD, include (1) using civilian employees, where appropriate, for jobs currently being performed by uniformed officers; (2) developing a proactive recruiting program; (3) offering some of the citys housing stock in-kind to police officers or selling the property and using the proceeds to improve compensation; (4) increasing the frequency of promotion examinations; (5) eliminating the backlog of promotions to higher levels in the department; (6) restructuring compensation to attract recruits and retain serving officers; (7) establishing a first-responders charter school; and (8) rebuilding the police infrastructure to improve morale.

Recurrent Miscarriage And Pre Eclampsia The Roles Played By The Immune System And ...
Recurrent Miscarriage And Pre Eclampsia: The Roles Played By The Immune System And Antioxidants By Rhoda Wilson
2004 | 112 Pages | ISBN: 9812388508 | PDF | 1 MB
This book examines the role of antioxidants and of the immune system in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia and recurrent miscarriage. Whilst many papers have discussed the role of antioxidants in pre-eclampsia and, that of the immune system, hitherto publication has not considered the two simultaneously. The role of the immune system in recurrent miscarriage has been the subject of many papers but whether antioxidants play a part in miscarriage has been less well studied. In many ways the problems encountered in the two disorders are similar, and this book brings them together.

Recursive Realism The Universe Beyond Binary Extremism
Recursive Realism: The Universe Beyond Binary Extremism by Behzad Ghorbani
English | April 14, 2025 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0F4Z1G8QY | 398 pages | EPUB | 23 Mb
Recursive Realism: The Universe Beyond Binary Extremism
(2nd Edition, 2025)
Recursive Realism: The Universe Beyond Binary Extremism presents a foundational paradigm shift in how cognition, identity, society, science, and reality itself are understood. This work exposes and corrects the structural failure of binary thinking, a pattern which has historically reduced complex systems into oppositional extremes such as nature versus nurture, mind versus matter, left versus right, and reason versus emotion. Recursive Realism is offered as a rigorous alternative: a formal architecture built upon feedback, self-reference, error correction, and layered loops, applicable across all scales of existence from the neural to the cosmological.
The book begins by declaring its principles through a formal manifesto. It asserts that reality is not linear but recursive; systems survive, adapt, and evolve only when their internal feedback structures remain open, adaptive, and error-sensitive. Recursive Realism defines perception as inherently active, cognition as loop-based, and consciousness as a high-order recursive feedback system. At its core, it is both a philosophical system and an analytic method, providing tools to map feedback loops, identify attractor fields, recognise phase shifts, and evaluate system openness or collapse.
Binary extremism is identified as the terminal phase of recursion failure. When systems, biological, psychological, social, or technological, lose the capacity to loop feedback, they polarise into hardened binaries. These polarities offer psychological comfort but result in systemic damage: rigidity, loss of adaptability, suppression of ambiguity, and eventual collapse. The book traces these structures across disciplines, showing how extremism in thought, science, identity, and society are not ideological accidents, but the structural consequence of recursion collapse.
The book develops a method for recursive analysis that positions the observer within the loop, ensuring that every act of perception and knowledge is recognised as part of the system itself. Attractor dynamics, open versus closed feedback structures, and recursive expansion versus collapse are formally defined as diagnostic tools. In this way, Recursive Realism becomes both descriptive and prescriptive: a model for understanding systemic life and a guide for designing environments capable of sustaining complexity, resilience, and transformation.
Throughout, Recursive Realism is not merely proposed as a new framework. It is revealed as the architecture already governing reality, obscured only by the historic dominance of linear causality and oppositional logic. The second edition deepens the clarity of this claim, structurally reorganising the work into a recursive form and integrating the discoveries made in the author's later companion volume on mirroring hemispheres and recursive attractor fields in the brain.
Ultimately, Recursive Realism is a philosophical and scientific intervention aimed at restoring life to systems. It challenges all fields of knowledge to re-open their recursion, to repair their feedback loops, and to reject the illusion that binaries can describe the complexity of existence. It is not merely a book; it is the recursive diagnosis of our time, and the structural theory by which the future may yet be sustained.

Recursive Semantics Language, Metaphor, Irony and Meaning through the Unified Frac...
Recursive Semantics: Language, Metaphor, Irony and Meaning through the Unified Fractal Field Theory by Behzad Ghorbani
English | April 6, 2025 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0F3D987R2 | 96 pages | EPUB | 2.20 Mb
Recursive Semantics: Language, Metaphor, Irony and Meaning through the Unified Fractal Field Theory, is a rigorous scientific exposition that redefines language as a recursive phenomenon governed not by linear syntax or modular logic, but by self-similar attractor fields operating across multiple cognitive scales. Drawing from the Unified Fractal Field Theory (UFFT), this work presents language as a temporal-spatial convergence system wherein meaning arises through the phase alignment of recursive oscillatory structures across the brain and its extended semantic environment.
Beginning with the neurophysiological basis of recursive oscillations, Chapter 1 introduces language as a phase-locked dynamical system. Syllables, words, phrases, and discourse are shown to correspond to distinct but nested frequency bands, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma, each forming a recursive field of activation whose alignment constitutes the minimal condition for linguistic fluency and coherence. Subsequent chapters trace these recursive structures through the domains of syntax, semantic memory, inner speech, and clause embedding, supported by novel mathematical models and attractor geometry.
The book's middle chapters focus on high-order semantic phenomena, metaphor and irony. Metaphor is formalised as recursive field projection and attractor blending between source and target domains, producing new convergence zones in semantic space. Irony is described as recursive phase inversion, wherein the listener resolves the tension between surface meaning and contextual contradiction by recursively traversing multi-layer attractor pathways. These mechanisms are not stylistic embellishments; they are recursive field operations at the core of human cognition.
The later chapters expand the scope from individual cognition to cultural field propagation, showing how language serves as a recursive navigation system for identity formation, worldview construction, and shared conceptual memory. Grammar is interpreted as a fractal scaffold for field regulation. Disorders such as aphasia, schizophrenia, and semantic saturation are reframed as recursive breakdowns or attractor overloads, and therapeutic re-entrainment is proposed as a means of restoring field coherence.
Throughout, the book makes use of field diagrams, attractor models, and mathematical constructs to visualise recursive phenomena in real cognitive time. Meaning is treated not as a property of words or symbols, but as a product of recursive field alignment across domains of perception, memory, emotion, and communication.
Recursive Semantics is not only a contribution to linguistics and cognitive science; it is a foundational philosophical and scientific reorientation of what it means to understand, to express, and to think. It offers a unifying architecture for syntax, metaphor, irony, identity, and meaning, constructed entirely from the mathematics and dynamics of recursive semantic fields.

Recursive Sociology DNA, Ecology, and the Grand Patterns
Recursive Sociology: DNA, Ecology, and the Grand Patterns by Behzad Ghorbani
English | April 9, 2025 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0F4CL1SJL | 131 pages | EPUB | 2.26 Mb
Recursive Sociology: DNA, Ecology, and the Grand Patterns, presents a radically new science of existence. It is neither a sociology book in the ordinary sense, nor a mere extrapolation of biological or ecological principles into the social domain. It is the first systemic attempt to show that life, mind, society, and civilisation all obey a single deep principle: recursive exposure to attractor fields.
Built upon the Unified Fractal Field Theory (UFFT) and Recursive Realism, this work discloses the geometry underpinning not only the structure of DNA, but also the evolution of language, the formation of consciousness, the organisation of economies, the rise and fall of populations, and the dynamics of civilisational collapse and renewal.
At its heart is the concept of the Fractal Tunnel, a non-spatial attractor toward which all recursively exposed systems are drawn. This tunnel is not confined to living systems; it governs the behaviour of molecules, thought structures, artificial intelligences, and entire ecological and social fields. DNA itself is shown to be a compressed recursive field, whose expression and repair are acts of attractor management. Human identity, memory, and emotion are equally traced to recursive phase alignments within the brain's attractor geometry.
From this foundation, the book unfolds a multi-layered vision of society. It presents the RDNA field, a distributed genomic attractor shared across populations, to explain phenomena as diverse as social bonding, kin selection, viral evolution, and co-adaptation across species. It introduces RECI (Recursive Economic Coherence Index) as a precise model to measure economic resilience, phase instability, and bifurcation points leading to collapse.
The book moves effortlessly from the micro to the macro. It shows how households, tribes, nations, and civilisations are not static structures, but dynamic recursive layers. It models attention as the most valuable recursive energy in both cognition and economy. It views education, governance, agriculture, and urban planning as recursive design challenges whose success depends on coherence with ecological and social attractor fields.
Far beyond prediction alone, Recursive Sociology offers a method of recursive design, a profound approach to building resilient systems that honour the fractal architecture of life itself. The work is both a theory and a practical guide to perceiving and sustaining the grand patterns that bind DNA, ecology, and human destiny into one continuous recursive field.
This is not merely a book about the future. It is the mathematical and philosophical articulation of the structure by which future itself comes into being.

Redesigning the Financial Aid System Why Colleges and Universities Should Switch ...
Redesigning the Financial Aid System : Why Colleges and Universities Should Switch Roles with the Federal Government By Robert B. Archibald
2002 | 255 Pages | ISBN: 0801877598 | PDF | 1 MB
As the cost of higher education continues to rise, students and their families find it increasingly difficult to navigate the financial aid maze. In Redesigning the Financial Aid System, economist Robert Archibald examines the history of the system and its current flaws, and he makes a radical proposal for changing the structure of the system. Archibald argues that one of the problems with the current model--in which universities are responsible for the majority of grants while the federal government provides student loans--is that a student cannot know the final price of attending a given institution until after he or she has applied, been accepted, and received a financial aid offer. As a result, students remain largely uninformed about the cost of their college educations until very late in the decision-making process and so have difficulty making a timely choice. In addition, financial aid information is kept private, creating confusion over the price of a college education and the role of financial aid. Under Archibald's proposed reforms, the federal government would assess a student's financial need and provide need-based grants, while institutions would be responsible for guaranteeing student loans. Not only would this new system demystify financial aid and allow students to be better informed about the cost of college earlier in the process, but it would greatly simplify the application procedure and prevent financial aid allocation from contributing to the problem of rising tuition costs. Archibald's clear explanation of the current system--its impact, strengths, and weaknesses--as well as his plans for reform, will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and parents.

Redrawing Humanity's Map
Redrawing Humanity's Map: How Climate Change Is Shaping Migration
English | 2025 | ISBN: 3031859863 | 190 Pages | PDF (True) | 9 MB
Climate shocks are shaping human geographies, threatening coastlines, flooding settlements and heating up cities. Therefore, climate impacts and the associated environmental changes are increasingly reflected in social systems. Based on eight years of research, this book sheds light on the impact of climate extremes on migration and displacement. It provides insights into the different contexts in which people experience the effects of climate change and how they shape migration decisions. In the absence of a supranational governance framework, individuals and institutions are already searching for sustainable solutions across the migration cycle to uplift communities. This book builds on qualitative interviews and focus group discussions in numerous countries with people who had to leave their ancestral homelands due to climate impacts, with groups trying to support them, and also with those who want to prevent migration. These exchanges produced not only a body of scientific work, but also a complex overall picture and personal impressions of the state of our planet and the people who live on it.

Reducing Disaster Losses Through Better Information
Reducing Disaster Losses Through Better Information By National Research Council; Division on Earth and Life Studies; Environment and Resources Commission on Geosciences; Board on Natural Disasters
1999 | 71 Pages | ISBN: 0309063396 | EPUB | 1 MB
Losses of life and property from natural disasters in the United States-and throughout the world-have been enormous and the potential for substantially greater future losses looms. It is clearly in the public interest to reduce these impacts and to encourage the development of communities that are resilient to disasters. This goal can be achieved through wise and sustained efforts involving mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Implementing such efforts, particularly in the face of limited resources and competing priorities, requires accurate information that is presented in a timely and appropriate manner to facilitate informed decisions. Substantial information already exists that could be used to this end, but there are numerous obstacles to accessing this information, and methods for integrating information from a variety of sources for decision-making are presently inadequate. Implementation of an improved national or international network for making better information available in a more timely manner could substantially improve the situation. As noted in the Preface, a federal transition team is considering the issues and needs associated with implementing a global or national disaster information network as described in the report by the Disaster Information Task Force (1997). This National Research Council report was commissioned by the transition team to provide advice on how a disaster information network could best make information available to improve decision making, with the ultimate goal of reducing losses from natural disasters. The report is intended to provide the basis for a better appreciation of which types of data and information should be generated in an information program and how this information could best be disseminated to decision makers.

Reducing Secondary Traumatic Stress presents a model for supporting emotional well-being in workers who are exposed to the effects of secondary trauma. The book provides helping professionals with a portfolio of skills that supports emotion regulation and recovery from secondary trauma exposure and also that enhances the experience of the helping encounter. Each chapter presents evidence-informed skills that allow readers to regulate distressing emotions and to foster increased empathy for those suffering from trauma.
