DockView is a utility that adds a preview of the windows of the selected application in the macOS Dock. You just need to bring the mouse to its icon and thumbnails of all its windows will appear. DockView as opposed to, uBar App, and other similar applications, is not an alternative to macOS Dock, but a convenient addition to the Apple Dock. However, DockView does not modify or alter macOS. But:

- DockView needs to be authorized to use a Screen Recording to be able to get the window titles and create Window Previews in the Window Preview panel.

Why?

Many years ago, I used an application called HyperDock, but then problems started, HyperDock was not updated, the developer did not answer emails (this is also often written to me by my clients, and on the forums, I often see "HypperDock not working")... Except, also, the standard Dock from Apple has several disadvantages (see... Therefore, I decided to write an alternative to Apple Dock and partly an alternative to HypperDock. Now, this is my most popular application. But I often get emails from my clients who do not need a complete Apple Dock replacement, they want to use the ActiveDock capabilities with the Apple Dock... I thought: why not? I Can Do It...

HOSTS Manager is a lightweight command-line application that can effortlessly modify the Windows Hosts file to allow or prevent certain websites from reaching your computer. This is a security measure that can make your Internet browsing experience more comfortable by dismissing domains prone to malware, adware or data collection activities.

Edit the Hosts file to block domains
It can also be used to protect children by banning NSFW (adult-oriented) websites or those promoting violence or other content that promotes misconduct. The quickest way to this approach is by updating the Hosts file, which is in charge of IP mappings: figuring out the relationships between websites and IP addresses.

Run a command-line tool to update Hosts
HOSTS Manager doesn't require installation and comes bundled with two separate executable files for 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) Windows. If you launch the .exe, the tool starts updating the Hosts file automatically, adding ready entries which can be separately examined in three text documents with sources and user lists to ban as well as domains to allow (whitelist). Sources are also loaded from many cache files.

Blocks telemetry and other privacy services in Windows 10
One of the files contains a list of telemetry and other privacy-related functions that can be disabled in Windows 10. If you wish to edit entries from the predefined lists, add new entries or remove existing ones, you have to manually do this after opening the text documents (.txt).

There are also commands available for specifying the destination IP address to resolve all domains (/ip, default is 0.0.0.0), indicate the destination Hosts file location (/path) and create new lines (/os) with Windows (crlf), Linux (lf) or Mac(cr).

Practical Hosts manager but without backup
We haven't come across any issues while testing this software tool on the latest Windows version in our tests. HOSTS Manager updated the Hosts file in reasonable time while remaining light on system resources consumption.

On the other hand, it doesn't have a function for restoring the Hosts file to its initial settings, so it might be a good idea to create a backup of the file before running this utility.

A regular backup is still something that many users prefer to avoid. At least that is until they suffer their first loss of important files as a result of software, hardware or user error: that's when it becomes crystal clear just how valuable a reliable and up-to-date backup really is!

New in v16:
O&O have made two big new additions to DiskImage 16, these are the built-in recovery partition and the "DiskImage To Go" feature which helps make recovery media automatically available.

As can be seen in the image above, one of the big improvements in version 16 is the automatic building of a recovery partition on the main system drive when DiskImage is installed. Because this is all done automatically there is less chance that you will forget to manually create recovery media when configuring the software and once configured means there will always be a recovery partition to boot into should your PC not boot up as normal for any reason. As such, thanks to the automatic nature of this feature, recovery becomes much simpler in the event that you ever require it.

The other big new feature is the "Disk Image To Go" tool which will automatically detect which external drives are being used by DiskImage and will, in-turn, add the recovery media onto said drives. This approach, along with the above recovery partition, means users will never forget to create recovery media and if PC recovery is ever needed then such recovery media will always be available.

Whilst these two new features might seem small on the surface, I think how they operate actually makes them both very useful additions to DiskImage.
