Chaos Group V-Ray Next, Update 2.1 (build 4.20.02) for Rhino | 434.1 mb

Chaos Group is pleased to announce the availability of V-Ray Next, Update 2.1 (build 4.20.02) for Rhino, the first smart renderer made for designers. Tailored tools have expanded the core capabilities of Rhino and Grasshopper, linking photorealistic rendering, scene intelligence and asset management into a powerful new workflow that centralizes the design/visualization experience.

Workflow Improvements
- The quality slider presets are updated. The quality of the rendered image is now consistent between all the engines (CPU, CUDA and RTX) and sampler types (Progressive and Bucket)
- The quality slider presets count is increased to six. The new preset labels are 'Low', 'Low+', 'Medium', 'Medium+', 'High' and 'High+'. All provide better quality than their older counterparts.
- The Maximum Subdivisions Image Sampler parameter is now visible at all times (for GPU and also in progressive rendering mode). The value used for GPU rendering is always double the CPU one to ensure consistent quality
- The Embree related optimization parameters are automatically hidden when the GPU engine is selected. They have no effect in this case
- The Aperture (F-Number) slider limit is removed. Values from 56 up to 985 will result in Defocus slider values between 0.1 and 0.001 to be displayed
- Introduced a confirmation window when deleting or purging assets from the Asset Editor. Using the Shift + Delete keyboard keys removes selected assets without confirmation
- Added full support for the _RenderBlowup, _RenderWindow, _RenderInWindow and _RenderPeviewInWindow Rhino commands
- A new vrayRenderWindow command is implemented. It exposes three modes - Region, Cropped and Cropped Blowup. The vrayRenderBlowup command is removed - use vrayRenderWindow instead
- A Python script wrap module is implemented
Grasshopper
- The quality slider presets of the V-Ray Renderer component are updated. The quality of the rendered image is now consistent between all the engines (CPU, CUDA and RTX) and sampler types (Progressive and Bucket)
- A new 'Render Animation in Rhino' function is added to the Render in Project component. It renders each Grasshopper animation frame state together with the Rhino scene. Object animations are fully supported
- The Material Preset component's Color parameter can now be textured with a V-Ray Bitmap
- An issue causing specific Grasshopper animations frame ranges to be sent incorrectly to the Rhino project is resolved
- Polysurface objects referenced in Grasshopper and rendered via the V-Ray Geometry component no longer have faulty UV texture coordinates
- A number of issues related to displacement rendering in Grasshopper are resolved
- Animation rendering, exporting animated proxies or scenes is now possible with a C# / Python script component
Other Changes & Bug Fixes
- Randomize Material ID Colors now works as expected
- The Multimatte Materials render element now works as expected
- Render regions can now be specified prior to any rendering
- A number of tooltips as well as some Grasshopper component descriptions are updated
- Decreasing the V-Ray interactive viewport (VPR) size with the vrayVPRSettings command no longer causes issues
- An issue with the appearance of Rhino materials rendered in V-Ray is resolved
- An issue caused by proxy mesh manipulations while the vrmesh file is on a network drive is resolved
- The precision and default range of the Camera / Effects / Vertical Lens Tilt slider are updated
- The default range of the Camera / Effects / Vignetting slider is decreased

Chaos Group has released V-Ray Next for Rhino, the latest update to the edition of the renderer for Robert McNeel & Associates' NURBS-based industrial modelling software. The update makes key features of the V-Ray Next architecture available to Rhino users, introduces new asset management tools, and extends support for Rhino's Grasshopper procedural modelling system.

- Performance boosts, plus new Scene Intelligence and asset-management features
The new features in V-Ray Next for Rhino follow a similar pattern to those from V-Ray Next for SketchUp, which shipped last month. That means the key features of the V-Ray Next architecture: better overall CPU and GPU render performance, plus new 'Scene Intelligence' features designed to simplify render set-up, including the Adaptive Dome Light and automatic exposure. The update also adds support for Nvidia's AI-based OptiX render denoising system, and makes the standard V-Ray material compatible with metalness PBR workflows used in game engines like UE4. Workflow improvements include a simplified rendering UI, and a new asset-management system.
- Improved support for Grasshopper, and support for scripting
Support for Grasshopper, the "algorithmic modelling" system introduced in Rhino 6, has also been extended. New features include the option to animate Grasshopper definitions, cameras and sunlight settings from the V-Ray timeline; and support for physical camera settings and V-Ray Next's lighting analysis render element within Grasshopper. In addition, V-Ray Next for Rhino introduces support for scripting via Python or RhinoScript, making it possible to automate common tasks or customise rendering functionality.

Important note about accessibility
- We are aware Narrator and NVDA users that seek the latest release of Microsoft Edge based on Chromium may experience some difficulty when navigating and reading certain web content. Narrator, NVDA and the Edge teams are aware of these issues. Users of legacy Microsoft Edge will not be affected. NVAccess has released a NVDA 2019.3 that resolves the known issue with Edge.

We're once again approaching that time of the year when Microsoft releases a new feature update to Windows 10. In line with the version numbering scheme we've been seeing, this update is currently known as Windows 10 version 2004, or 20H1, because it's being released in the first half of the year.

While we did get a feature update in the second half of 2019, there was only a very small number of additions, and those additions were also minor in nature. It was more about refining the previous update than making significant leaps forward. Surprisingly, even though version 2004 is a more significant feature update, it's one of the smaller ones, despite having a longer period of testing with Insiders than what we've seen before.

Resolved Issues:
- Some *.rcnx files were not saved properly which was causing errors when rendering reports. This was corrected, and the SQL file format is saved properly now.
- AS 4100 base plate design with custom anchors was causing the application to crash when all anchors were deleted. Now the design and optimization ignore the fasteners design for this case.
- EN 1993 bolted end plate was showing zero capacity for Class 4 beams as the effective section modulus was not being calculated. This is fixed now.
- AISC 360 single plate design was not considering correctly the eccentricity when manual option was selected. Now, regardless the single plate configuration, if the user selects manual, the design will consider the eccentricity value entered.
- RAM Connection for RAM Structural System was not mapping correctly T2L and T2LU for horizontal bracing connections. This is fixed now.

Siemens Digital Industries Software announces the latest release of its Simcenter FLOEFD software, a CAD-embedded computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool. The latest version offers new modules and improvements that can improve accuracy and solve rates.

The new Electronics Cooling Center module in Simcenter FLOEFD combines existing best electronics-specific capabilities and integrates new ones from Simcenter Flotherm software inside the user-friendly CAD-embedded interface to enhance electronics cooling functionality. A second new module helps users create a compact Reduced Order Model (ROM) that solves at a faster rate, while still maintaining a high level of accuracy. Its package creator helps users create thermal models of electronics packages easily and quickly. The Power Electrification module can now simulate an electrical device as an electro-thermal compact model, which can save significant user and computational time.

BCI-ROM Feature
The Boundary Condition Independent Reduced Order Model (BCI-ROM) extracts a dynamic compact thermal model for a range of heat transfer coefficient values defined in the Simcenter FLOEFD model. Such models can solve up to 40,000 times faster than a 3D CFD simulation while maintaining predictive accuracy in space and time. The models can be used for simulations in MATLAB or GNU Octave. To access this functionality you will need either the "Simcenter FLOEFD BCI-ROM + Package Creator" or "Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling Center" modules.


Thermal Netlist Extraction
The thermal netlist extraction converts a full Simcenter FLOEFD project into a thermal netlist using Reduced Order Model (ROM) technology. This thermal netlist is then linked to an electrical netlist prior to electro-thermal analysis. The export function uses the spice format (*.sp file) for use by electro-thermal system tools including Mentor Graphics' Eldo, SystemVision Cloud and other tools supporting the spice format. This functionality is only available in the "Simcenter FLOEFD BCI-ROM + Package Creator" or "Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling Center" modules.


Simcenter FLOEFD Package Creator Tool
The package creator is a tool that specializes in rapid creation of thermal models of electronic packages for use in Simcenter FLOEFD. The tool can be started from the Windows start menu or from within Simcenter FLOEFD. To create a package, you can specify various components, such as the encapsulant, die, die-attach, leadframe, die-attach pad and bond wires for a more accurate thermal model. This functionality is only available in the "Simcenter FLOEFD BCI-ROM + Package Creator" or "Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling Center" modules.


Electrical Element
This new feature is a thermo-electric compact model that allows users to add a component into a direct current (DC) electro-thermal calculation by the given component's electrical resistance. The corresponding Joule heat is calculated and applied to the body as a heat source. There are two types of electrical elements, resistors and wires: the resistor element uses the total electrical resistance provided and the wire element automatically calculates the resistance based on the wire's material properties, length and cross-section area. Optionally you may also specify the thermal resistance of the wire's insulator. Simcenter FLOEFD BCI-ROM + Package Creator Module
This new module comprises of the three new functionalities: BCI-ROM, Thermal Netlist and the Package Creator. In addition, the PCB compact model which was previously only available in the Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling module has been added to this module. This module is available for all Simcenter FLOEFD CFD CAD integrations.

Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling Center Module
This new module offers the ultimate solution for anyone who wants to dig deep into the electronics cooling world. It comprises of the functionalities of several modules: the Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling module, Simcenter FLOEFD EDA Bridge module, Simcenter FLOEFD T3STER Auto Calibration module plus the new Simcenter FLOEFD BCI-ROM + Package Creator module and the new Electrical Elements feature. With this package, you are fully equipped to face the toughest electronics cooling challenges inside your preferred CAD interface. And to ensure you have maximum flexibility, each of the modules listed above is still available separately. The Simcenter FLOEFD Electronics Cooling Center module is available for all Simcenter FLOEFD CFD CAD integrations.

ECXML Import
The Electronics Cooling XML (ECXML) format is an open neutral file format for the exchange of electronics cooling design models among different thermal simulation toolsets.

API Enhancements
The Simcenter FLOEFD API has been extended to include the ability to add thermal contact resistance and change the gravity as well as the default solid material from any API based interface to Simcenter FLOEFD CFD simulation software. This enables users to automate even more tasks through Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications and Visual C++ scripts and programs such as MS Excel.

Battery Model Extraction
The new battery model extraction capability can be used to extract the Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM) input parameters from experimental data. This enables you to get to the required input parameters faster and easier. This functionality is only available in the "Simcenter FLOEFD Power Electrification" module.

3rd Order Model for ECM Battery Model
In addition to the zero, first and second-order ECM battery models, a third-order model definition has been added; thereby offering even more accuracy for battery simulations. This functionality is only available in the "Simcenter FLOEFD Power Electrification" module.

Multiple Edit for Batteries
The multiple edit definition has been added for the battery feature. This way changes in the battery definition can be applied to all cells rather than each cell individually. This functionality is only available in the "Simcenter FLOEFD Power Electrification" module.

Import Plots from Scene
The new post-processing template (*.efdscene file) allows you to specify the result features such as plots, parameters, etc. that you may want to create automatically in other models and save them in a template. This enables you to re-use these settings in any other model or project directly by using the saved template.

Rotating Angle Goal
This new goal can be created within the rotating region definition menu. It helps to see the angle of the rotating geometry at each iteration, with respect to its original position at the start of the simulation.

Shock Wave Stabilization
For simulations with shock waves with Mach numbers larger than five, this option allows you to dampen oscillations in the solver run for a better convergence behavior.

Custom Visualization Parameter Interdependency
User-defined custom visualization parameters for post-processing can now depend on other user-defined parameters. This helps to define parameters that are depending on other, already defined parameters.

Create Curve for CATIA V5
It is now also possible to create curves from flow trajectories in Simcenter FLOEFD for CATIA V5.

Rebranding of Simcenter FLOEFD
Although already used in public-facing posts and other marketing material, the rebranding of "FloEFD" to "Simcenter FLOEFD" and "FloEFDView" to "Simcenter FLOEFD Viewer" is now complete in the software and corresponding technical documentation.

New CAD Version Supported
With the latest release, support for Siemens NX 1911 is now provided to ensure continuity of access.

Object based UI

You can have many nested instances and all the changes are automatically detected. Also, just in case you need to refresh cache, a new button that let's you do that with a single click without affecting caches of other layers.

Depth Map Culling
You can use a Depth Map exported by a 3D program or Buena Depth Cue to occlude pixels directly. It helps composite Plexus in 3D scenes with ease.

Improved OBJ Import
You can now import OBJ files and file sequences using AE's default file importer, which helps you organize footage better and collect project files. OBJ Object now also imports normals and texture co-ordinates along with vertex positions and facets.

Nested Compositions
Collapse Transforms for a nested composition, and Plexus behaves like a native AE composition. It reacts to Camera and lights of the native composition. It allows you to pre-comp Plexus layers and still have the flexibility to animate Camera movements.

Null Object Performance
Null Objects have similar performance to point lights if you're running the latest version of After Effects. No need to convert Nulls exported from 3D applications to point lights anymore.

Path Object Improvements
Path Object is improved with scaling controls for replication and tessellation for closed paths. Now there is yet another way to create 3D text in After Effects, but make it a little more interesting.

Custom Visibility Settings
You can gradually fade or vanish points, lines or polys when they get close to the camera or far away from the camera. You can also custom hide polygons that face towards or away from the camera.

Unified Rendering
Unified rendering allows all objects to have a common 3D space. It allows points, lines & polys created by multiple objects to intersect with one another in z-space.

Loop Noise
You can seamlessly loop noise values for animations. You can cycle through noise evolution and it works for position, scale & color values.

Physical acquisition is the only acquisition method to extract full application data, downloaded messages and location history. Physical acquisition operates on fixed-timeframe basis, which guarantees the delivery of the entire content of a 32-GB device in 40 minutes or less (depending on the amount of information stored in the device). In many cases, physical acquisition returns more data than logical acquisition, as many files are locked by the operating system and not accessible during the process of logical acquisition.

Elcomsoft iOS Forensic Toolkit supports both legacy hardware (iPhone 4 and older), jailbroken 32-bit devices (iPhone 4S through 5C) and jailbroken 64-bit devices (iPhone 5s through iPhone X).

A proprietary acquisition technique is exclusively available in Elcomsoft iOS Forensic Toolkit for 64-bit devices. Physical acquisition for 64-bit devices is fully compatible with jailbroken iPhones and iPads equipped with 64-bit SoC, returning the complete file system of the device (as opposed to bit-precise image extracted with the 32-bit process). Only devices with known or empty passcode are supported; passcode protection must be removed in iOS settings prior to acquisition.

Logical Acquisition with Keychain Extraction
iOS Forensic Toolkit supports logical acquisition, a simpler and safer acquisition method compared to physical. Logical acquisition produces a standard iTunes-style backup of information stored in the device. While logical acquisition returns less information than physical, experts are recommended to create a logical backup of the device before attempting more invasive acquisition techniques.

Logical acquisition with iOS Forensic Toolkit is the only acquisition methods allowing access to encrypted keychain items. Logical acquisition should be used in combination with physical for extracting all possible types of evidence.

Media and Shared Files Extraction
iOS Forensic Toolkit offers the ability to quickly extract media files such as Camera Roll, books, voice recordings, and iTunes media library. As opposed to creating a local backup, which could be a potentially lengthy operation, media extraction works quickly and easily on all supported devices. Extraction from locked devices is possible by using a pairing record (lockdown file).

In addition to media files, iOS Forensic Toolkit can extract stored files of multiple apps, extracting crucial evidence from 32-bit and 64-bit devices without a jailbreak. While access to app data without a jailbreak is limited, this new technique allows extracting Adobe Reader and Microsoft Office locally stored documents, MiniKeePass password database, and a lot more. The extraction requires an unlocked device or a non-expired lockdown record. If a lockdown record is used, some files may not be accessible unless the lock screen passcode is removed.
