scFLOW - an application for mathematical modeling of fluid dynamics and heat transfer problems with an adaptive mesh and high computing speed.
Features and functions specific to scFLOW
Simplification of preprocessor operations
. Necessary operations with CAD data for mesh analysis have been significantly simplified compared to previous versions. Saving assembly information and adjusting part parameters create a sense of continuity in workflow between systems and reduce the user load.
Adaptive mesh.
The function of local coarsening/refining of elements during automatic mesh generation has been improved. The adaptive mesh is generated from elements with the most appropriate size for a specific geometry.
View mode.
Data from the preprocessor can be displayed in view mode when the license is occupied by the postprocessor or mesh generation.
Operation logging via the VB interface.
Operations from the preprocessor can be saved as a log file using the Visual Basic interface. This does not allow the creation of custom scripts, but allows the creation of an automated system in a short period of time based on the operations saved in the log.

Calculation models in scSTREAM are based on a simple and easy-to-construct structured mesh. This type of mesh consists of many small cuboids, so it approximates curved surfaces only in a step structure.
This type of mesh is used in cases where curved surfaces or small details do not significantly affect the overall result. Examples of using a structured mesh are found in modeling electronics cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, as well as in the design of architectural structures.

Various methods of representing geometry
The shape of the model to be analyzed can be represented using the following methods
- voxel method (inclined and curved surfaces are represented as cuboids);
- beveled cell method (refinement of a model created using a CAD system);
- finite element method (an arbitrary-shaped model with an unstructured mesh can be superimposed on a model with a structured mesh, allowing the CAD model to be used in its original form).
Modeling the Motion of Objects
The scSTREAM system allows one to calculate the flow generated by a perfectly rigid moving object. Parameters such as object motion (displacement, rotation, elastic deformations), heat generation/absorption, and air supply/exhaust can be set as conditions. A different mesh is created for the model of the moving object. With this approach, conditions such as the distance traveled by the object are virtually unlimited, allowing for the creation of models of arbitrary complexity.
Scaling Boundary Conditions
If the target phenomenon being studied is an order of magnitude smaller than the size of the environment that influences it, the results of the environmental analysis can be used as boundary conditions to reduce the time and number of calculations.

HeatPathView displays the thermal trajectory and the amount of heat transferred throughout the computational domain using diagrams, graphs, and tables, making it easy to identify bottlenecks.
Importing Data from Electronic CAD Systems
This function allows you to read and import data about the printed circuit board (PCB) wiring diagram from a CAD system. This allows for a more realistic simulation result, taking into account heat transfer caused by uneven wiring diagrams.

HeatDesigner is a specialized solution based on scSTREAM, developed for thermal calculations of electronics. HeatDesigner's performance is optimized for cases where precise reproduction of curved geometry is not required to predict the flow field. However, HeatDesigner supports meshes of over 100 million elements, allowing for a sufficiently accurate description of small geometric features. As with scSTREAM, HeatDesigner's main advantages are short calculation times and low consumption of computing resources.

scTETRA is an application for mathematical modeling of fluid dynamics and heat transfer problems with an unstructured mesh.
scTETRA uses a hybrid mesh that allows for the representation of model geometry with high accuracy. A fast mesh generator, high-speed calculations, low memory consumption, and a user-friendly interface allow for efficient work and fast results.
The hybrid (or unstructured) mesh is generated using tetrahedral, pentahedral, hexahedral, and other polyhedral elements. This mesh is used in problems where accurate representation of geometry is critical. Examples of such problems include modeling vehicle aerodynamics, pipeline flows, and turbomachinery operation.
Features, functions, and applications specific to scTETRA
High-speed automatic mesh generation.
A high-quality mesh is automatically generated in minimal time using the Advancing Front exhaustion method. When creating a layer of prismatic elements, its width can be specified depending on the width of the flow channel. The software accelerates mesh generation by using parallel computing and supports the creation of large mesh sizes.
Adaptive Mesh
For steady-state analysis, this feature automatically reduces the mesh element size in regions where flow or pressure changes significantly. After the solver completes its calculations, the preprocessor runs automatically and rebuilds the mesh based on the calculation results. This feature is suitable for analyzing flows in complex pipe shapes.
CAD Model Modification
In scTETRA, models obtained from a CAD system can be edited as needed or if errors arise. Boundary conditions can be established based on part names and other parameters imported from the CAD system. Discrete mesh
This mesh technology allows
- simulate flows generated by moving objects: rotating fans and turbines, moving cars or trains;
- analyze heating taking into account the shear between the rotor and hub in a disc brake system;
- analyze a combination of rotation and translation (e.g. a piston pump).
Mesh Overlap
Motion that is not reproduced by deformation or rotation is simulated using an overlapping mesh for the moving and stationary domains. In addition, object contact and overlap of multiple domains are supported. An example of an application for this function is the analysis of the opening and closing of an engine piston valve or a gear pump operating through gears.
Strength Analysis Module
Deformations and thermal stresses can be calculated based on the calculated values of pressure and temperature. An interface with Abaqus has been implemented for solving problems of fluid-structure interaction.
Compressible Fluid Simulation
scTETRA enables the analysis of supersonic flow phenomena and significant volume expansion/compression. For compressible fluids, both pressure-based and density-based solvers are used. The type of solver depends on the purpose of the analysis and the type of phenomenon.
