PVsystis the solar industry's preferred software simulation tool for bankability analyses and acceptance testing. This incumbent status is both a function of the platform's capabilities and stakeholder confidence in its results. Accurate energy modeling is essential to photovoltaic system financial models, capacity tests, and performance reports. However, accuracy is not innate to a specific software, but rather is a function of how that software is used. In this context, confidence is earned over time via repetition, experience, and accrued knowledge.

From the perspective of a power user, PVsyst is uniquely capable of providing a granular analysis of irradiance losses, array losses, and system losses. The granularity and control in PVsyst allows users to account for, among other things, module quality losses; string mismatch losses; soiling losses (including snow); ohmic wiring losses in the DC collection system; inverter losses; transformer losses; and auxiliary losses. The software is also unique in its ability to simulate system degradation and aging effects, which are essential for understanding energy production and economic performance over time.

PVsyst includes a large weather database and allows users to import meteorological data from other sources. The solar simulation platform also supports probabilistic assessments such as P50 and P90 analysis, which are statistical approaches used to increase confidence in the predicted solar resource and resulting energy yield.

In late May 2020, PVsyst released Version 7.0, which supports 64-bit processors. This release enables larger project capacities, more complex shading analyses, bifacial system modeling, and more advanced economic evaluations. While these increasingly powerful capabilities make PVsyst an ideal tool for engineers, the most powerful software tool is not necessarily the best tool for all users

In 1992, André Mermoud, a PhD physicist from the University of Geneva, began developing Windows-based PV simulation software. Mermoud rewrote PVsyst in its entirety in 1999, enabling graphical interface capabilities. For more than 20 years, the developers behind PVsyst have supported U.S.-based project sites and provided periodic software and database updates.

QuickImageComment displays EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of digital images (e.g. JPEG and TIFF) and allows to edit them. Especially editing of user comment and artist (author) is supported by using the last entered or predefined values. These attributes are read from the EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of the image and are stored there. Metadata (XMP) in video files are displayed.

Overview of features:

Display of all EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties of images, as well as some other file properties such as modification date.
Display of metadata (XMP) of video files as well as (depending on the Windows version and, if necessary, installed components) display a frame of the video.
Images or videos can be searched via their properties or recording location on map.
In addition to the full lists of EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties a list of properties is displayed, which is configurable.
In addition to user comment and artist further EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be changed. The list of modifiable properties can be configured.
Data templates can be defined to set several properties in one step.
Via placeholder it is possible to copy values of properties in others.
Changes can be carried out simultaneously for two or more files.
EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be deleted, thereby exceptions can be defined. Single properties can be deleted selectively.
Files can be renamed using Exif, IPTC and XMP properties.
The EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties contained in the files can be compared.
A special mask is used to synchronize the recording time of a set of images taken with different cameras. Images are grouped by properties (mostly camera model). For each group, a shift of the recording time can be entered. Then the images are immediately sorted in order to check whether the images are then in the correct timely order.
Selected image properties of all images/videos in a folder (including any subfolders) can be exported to a text file.

Display of image details with graphical and numerical representation of brightness and RGB values.

Use the classic selection box shown above, or zoom with the mouse by Shift-dragging or double-clicking inside the fractal window. Panning, rotating, stretching, and skewing are also possible, of course.

Tweak parameters with the versatile Explore feature
Choosing parameter values is a breeze with the new Explore feature. Experiment with new parameter values by moving the mouse cursor over a coordinate grid in the Explore window, while the Fractal Mode tool window shows a real-time preview of the result.
Explore works with integer, floating-point, and complex parameters.

Color your fractals and add transparency effects
Coloring your fractals is easy with Ultra Fractal's gradient editor. Drag the gradient curves up and down to create smooth ranges of colors, or use the Randomize options to quickly try various color combinations. You can also use the gradient editor to add transparency effects.

Compose fractals with layers, masks, layer groups and Photoshop-like merge modes
One of Ultra Fractal's key features is layering. You can place multiple layers of fractals on top of each other to combine them and create intricate coloring and texturing effects. Add mask layers to create transparent areas that will let the underlying layers shine through. Organize related layers in layer groups. Store layers or groups that you often use in the layer presets menu to access them quickly. You can even select multiple layers to edit their parameters together.

Image import
Import PNG, JPEG or BMP images in your fractals with the built-in image import feature. Simply select a coloring algorithm that contains an image parameter, and you can select any image on your computer to use.
The coloring algorithm determines how the information from the image is used. For example, the standard Image coloring algorithm just displays the entire image in the fractal window.

Create fractal animations easily with the powerful animation features
In Ultra Fractal, every fractal is potentially an animation. Every parameter can be animated individually. Animations can be as long as you want and use any desired frame rate. Editing animations is easy with the powerful Timeline tool window, shown below. You can render animations with optional motion blur to image sequences or to AVI movies. (Extended Edition only.)

Ultra Fractal 6 is designed to run on any computer with Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or XP, but it works best with Windows 10. The new High DPI support requires Windows 10 or Windows 8.1.
Ultra Fractal will run on any CPU that works with Windows, but Intel Core i7 or i5 processors are recommended for best performance. Ultra Fractal will seamlessly take advantage of multi-core and multi-processor systems.
The OpenGL graphics acceleration in Ultra Fractal 6 works with almost any graphics card. If the card is not supported, OpenGL acceleration is turned off automatically.
A monitor resolution of at least 1920 x 1200 pixels (HD) is recommended to work comfortably. High DPI (4K/5K) monitors are highly recommended to take advantage of the high resolution support in Ultra Fractal 6. This lets you view your fractals in almost print-like resolution on the screen.
On 64-bit systems, 4 GB of memory (RAM) is recommended; 2 GB on 32-bit systems and 1 GB for Windows XP. More memory will enable you to create larger fractals with more layers. If you want to create large flame fractals, or if you want to render large images or animations with motion blur, more memory is always better.
Installing Ultra Fractal on your hard disk takes less than 20 MB, but you will want to reserve extra space to store fractals and rendered images. When rendering animations, you need enough free disk space for temporary data, depending on the length and size of the animation.
