Damit dokumentiert dieser Band Hegels Ausarbeitung der Naturphilosophie auf der Grundlage der ersten Auflage der "Enzyklopädie" (1817) und ermöglicht hierdurch ein zuverlässiges Verständnis seiner Naturphilosophie. Im zweiten Teilband werden vier weitere Nachschriften folgen. Der dritte Teilband wird den Editorischen Bericht und die Kommentierung enthalten.
