Originally published in 1976. This comprehensive study discusses in detail the philosophical, mathematical, physical, logical and theological aspects of our understanding of time and space. The text examines first the many different definitions of time that have been offered, beginning with some of the puzzles arising from our awareness of the passage of time and shows how time can be understood as the concomitant of consciousness. In considering time as the dimension of change, the author obtains a transcendental derivation of the concept of space, and shows why there has to be only one dimension of time and three of space, and why Kant was not altogether misguided in believing the space of our ordinary experience to be Euclidean.

The concept of space-time is then discussed, including Lorentz transformations, and in an examination of the applications of tense logic the author discusses the traditional difficulties encountered in arguments for fatalism. In the final sections he discusses eternity and the beginning and end of the universe.
The book includes sections on the continuity of space and time, on the directedness of time, on the differences between classical mechanics and the Special and General theories of relativity, on the measurement of time, on the apparent slowing down of moving clocks, and on time and probability.

When the war reached a crisis point, with UN forces pinned down and threatened with being pushed off the peninsula into the sea, the RAAF was at the epicentre.
During the war, the RAAF entered the jet age, and the transition was not without challenges and losses. Ultimately, a generation of RAAF leaders emerged from the ranks of sergeant pilots and junior officers who underwent their baptism of fire on the Korean Peninsula. Using No 77 Squadron operations as a timeline, this concise history of the RAAF involvement in the war examines the roles of the transport unit, nurses, ground crews, prisoners of war and those who still have no known resting place.

The Kings Royal Rifle Corps, or the 2nd Battalion the Royal Green Jackets as they are now known, had a long and proud fighting tradition that they would exchange with no other regiment in the British Army. Originally raised from American colonists in 1756, their skill in fighting the French and their native American allies in the woods in the north of the nascent America was legendary; the regiment was honoured for its distinguished service with the motto "Swift and Bold" by no less a figure as General Wolfe in the Quebec campaign.

During the Napoleonic Wars, companies of the 5th Battalion were attached to the divisions of Wellington's army to provide them with tough, resilient experienced skirmishers. After many significant deployments to overseas theatres during the 1800's, the regiment was hugely expanded for service in the First World War during which the men of the KRRC added much lustre to their reputation and no fewer than seven V.C.s.
Lt.-General Sir Edward Hutton was a distinguished officer of the British army, aide-de-camp to Queen Victoria and pioneered the use of mounted infantry in the British Army. He was also the first commander of the Australian Army. He wrote this short history of his old regiment in retirement during the early stages of the First World War.
