Comparing databases, especially if they come from different database management systems, is no easy task without specialized software. Of course, you can try and carry out the task manually, but that is a tedious task when it comes to large databases with hundreds of entries.

Specifically designed to compare two different databases, KS DB Merge Tools for Cross-DBMS delivers a quick method to run a side-by-side comparison and make sure the databases are synchronized.

Upon launch, you are presented with a two-sided window that allows the visual comparison between the two databases. First, you will have to establish the connection to the left and right databases by specifying the requested details (usually, the server's name and port, the username and the password). For some DBMSs, using connection strings is possible.

Several database management systems are supported, namely Oracle, MySQL and MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SQLite and Microsoft Access. It is worth noting that the application does not allow you to compare two databases of the same type, redirecting you to use dedicated software created by the same developer.

Once the databases are loaded, KS DB Merge Tools for Cross-DBMS starts reading the connection data and imports table definitions and indexes, foreign keys, views, and so on. In other words, it allows you to explore the database contents within the main window of the application.

Thanks to the two-panel interface, comparing the two databases is easy, even visually. Schemas can be easily compared with KS DB Merge Tools for Cross-DBMS and so are table definitions. New and changed tables can be revealed, so that you can see the differences.

The same goes for the object list. Column definition changes (names, types and so on) are highlighted as well. Differences in data can be shown and filters can be applied to only show changed or new records.

As its name clearly states, KS DB Merge Tools for Cross-DBMS is specifically designed for comparing and syncing two different databases. It can run side-by-side comparisons of schemas, data and programming objects, highlighting the differences, so that you can easily sync the two databases. And, for databases using the same DBMS, the developer created dedicated applications that you can try out.
