Simplistic alternative to Microsoft Office
With standard functionality in all the applications, OfficeSuite delivers a good alternative to Microsoft Office, from whom it also borrows the GUI layout. It supports all the Office formats, so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues.

Nevertheless, you should know that it doesn't sport the same rich feature set you can find in Microsoft Office. Instead, it sticks to the basic set of options that should be enough for any home user.

The MicroStation CONNECT Edition team is pleased to announce the availability of MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13. This version continues to focus on frequently requested features and continues to deliver improvements with stability and performance.


What's New and Resolved Issues in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13

The MicroStation CONNECT Edition Team examined and resolved many issues across multiple areas for MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13. In addition to resolving User defects that have been listed below, we would like to highlight a few key areas that were focused on for this release.

The key drivers were:
- Performance
- Usability
- Functionality

From a usability and functionality standpoint, you will see improvements in the time to open and list properties in the Properties dialog and the introduction of the V8i Task Theme to help with the user experience of users moving from V8i to MicroStation CONNECT Edition.

In regard to Performance, large files (~600MB and larger) will have improved opening times that can be potentially be exponential when compared to MicroStation V8i SELECTSeries 10. Please keep your eyes on Bentley Communities for Blog posts on this and other performance related topics.

In the area of Visualization, improvements have been made to Material and Mapping handling, improvements to the LumenRT Exporter and a new PBR (Physically Based Rendering) content library.

RealDWG 2019 in MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 is now supported from a file open and save standpoint. In addition, performance improvements have been made when opening DWG files with ACIS Solids.

From the Modeling area, the MicroStation Team resolved critical issues with the legacy solids modeling tools resulting in smoother workflow and operation. Also improved interactions between Parametric Solids with normal solids manipulation tools. Please look forward to upcoming Blog posts on this topic

Support for Windows Server 2019 has also been added from a supported Operating System standpoint.

ER 38451 - Parameterized cell abutment is now available in L-Edit. This feature allows instances of parameterized cells, when abutted, to adjust their geometries to occupy minimum area. For example, if two instances of an n-channel MOSFET that share the same source or drain, abutment will regenerate the instances to remove additional contacts and bring these two devices very close to each other.
ER 42220 - L-Edit can now open an OA .defs file with any base name and .defs extension, file name does not have to be lib.defs.
ER 45171 - The fill pattern for Calibre highlighting can now be controlled using a TCL variable, tanner_calibre_highlight_fill, to set the fill pattern. The variable is a 64-bit integer and defines an 8x8 grid pattern, with 1 transparent and 0 filled. Due to a limitation in rendering, it can't be entirely filled, so setting the variable to 0 results in no fill. For example: set tanner_calibre_highlight_fill 0xF0F0F0F00f0f0f0f.

Internet security
When surfing the Internet, your browser usually stores Internet files unnoticed on your hard drive. These files can provide information about websites you've visited or the passwords you've entered. It makes no difference whether it involves cookies, data entered on forms, or browsing history - O&O SafeErase lists all the information saved for each browser you use, and you can then delete them individually or together. Once deleted, nobody will be able to detect your Internet traces and your online accounts are protected from data thieves or hackers. Version 14 supports Microsoft Edge, the successor to Internet Explorer, as well as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.

Safe erase your entire computer
Deleting the entire computer allows you to permanently delete all confidential files before you dispose of, sell, or give your computer away. All files, settings, applications and the operating system itself are deleted so that a file recovery is impossible. You can be sure that nobody will ever restore your confidential information and misuse it, protecting yourself against identity theft. With O&O SafeErase you can even delete your entire computer without a start medium (e.g. a Boot CD).

Six deletion methods for maximum security
O&O SafeErase allows you to choose from among six different deletion methods. The methods of deletion differ in the number of runs and the type of overwriting process. These methods ensure maximum security, whatever your requirements. In addition to standardized deletion methods of the U. S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) you can also select a complex mathematical method (the Gutmann method), which complies with the highest security levels. In this scientifically approved method of data deletion, corresponding areas of the hard disk are overwritten 35 times using precisely defined rules along with fixed and random values. In this way, O&O SafeErase exceeds even the requirements of the DoD and the BSI. Quick deletion can also be made by just overwriting data with zeros.

SolidErase
As of version 12.3, O&O SafeErase includes the feature SolidErase, which was developed especially for the deletion of SSDs. SolidErase uses resources sparingly and thoroughly so that the data is not recoverable and the SSD is exposed to the least possible strain.
