The Dlubal development team is pleased to announce the availability of Composite Beam 8.24.02.157532, a useful construction program for structural analysis and design of composite beams according to: ENV 1994-1‑1:1992‑10.


COMPOSITE-BEAM automatically analyzes the resulting internal forces and carries out all relevant verification according to following the standards. The results are displayed in the spreadsheet masks. They are sorted by the required analysis standards and thus enable an easy orientation. The user`s control over the input as well as the interpretation of the results is facilitated through 3D visualization. All graphics can be edited and transferred to the Printout Report.

An example in civil structures is the steel-concrete composite beam in which a steel wide-flange shape (I or W shape) is attached to a concrete floor slab. The many other kinds of composite beam include steel-wood, wood-concrete, and plastic-concrete or advanced composite materials-concrete.Composite beams as defined here are different from beams made from fiber-reinforced polymeric materials.

The Dlubal COMPOSITE-BEAM program performs design of composite beams according to: ENV 1994‑1‑1:1992‑10

The program is based on bidirectional communication between RSTAB and the add‑on modules. However, an RSTAB license is not required for using COMPOSITE‑BEAM (stand‑alone operation is possible).

System Requirements.
In order to use Composite Beam without any difficulties, the following system requirements are recom-mended:

- Operating system Windows XP/Vista/7/8
- x86 CPU with 2 GHz
- 2 GB RAM
- 10 GB hard disk capacity, including approximately 4 GB required for the installation
- Graphics card with OpenGL acceleration and resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Onboard solutions and shared-memory technologies are not recommended

RSTAB is not supported by Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000, Linux, Mac OS or server operating systems.

No product recommendations are made, with the exception of the operating system, as RSTAB basically runs on all systems that fulfill the system requirements mentioned above. If RSTAB is used for intensive calculations, the guiding principle 'more is better' applies.

When complex structural systems are calculated, huge amounts of data are produced. As soon as the main memory is not sufficient for taking the data, the hard drive will take over, which can slow down the computer significantly. Therefore, upgrading the main memory will usually speed up the calculation more than a faster processor.

As the RSTAB analysis core supports several processor kernels, you can completely exploit the potential of 64-bit operating systems. For 32-bit systems the memory size used by the proces-sor is limited to 2 gigabytes. Therefore, more memory can be used with the 64-bit technology. If you work with a computer having sufficient RAM memory using a 64-bit operating system, it is possible to calculate also big models.

To calculate complex structural systems, we recommend to use the following configuration:

REST Server List
SITEOPS has the ability to save and maintain a list of REST servers, allowing users the ability to quickly access and switch between GIS data maps. The list can be accessed from two locations. Within the User Preferences and within the ESRI Layer feature.
ESRI Legend
To help interpret REST server map information users can access the map's legend when available.
Accessing the ESRI Legend: Select the ESRI Legend icon from the Import tab. Note: This will open the Legend webpage in the default browser. If a Legend isn't available a web page will not be opened. (Note: To enable the ESRI Legend icon, the site must be Geolocated. Also, a REST server map must be selected and visible - ESRI layer turned on).


Cut FIll Grid Layer


The Cut Fill Grid Layer allows users to see cut/fill depths at user defined grid spacing. The depths shown can account for both topsoil removal/replacement and subgrade depths.

Cut/Fill volumes displayed on Borrow/Fill areas
To help understand the quantities that are being cut or stockpiled in Grading Borrow/Fill areas, the volumes for cutting and filling have been added to the areas. On Borrow areas, the color will be red with a negative value. On Fill areas, the color will be green.


Separate Layer for Revision Information text
The revision information text has been moved from the Parking Space layer and placed on a new layer called Revision Information.


Proposed Contour Color and Spacing applied to 3D Viewer/Grader
The contour coloring and spacing set on the Contour Proposed Finished Grade layer is now applied in the 3D Viewer/Grader.


3D Viewer/Grader Background Color can be toggled between black/white
To help with presentation and screen captures, the background color of the 3D viewer/grader can be toggled between black and white by pressing the B key.


Road Length and Parcel Information on PDF output
The Road Length and Parcel Information is displayed on the PDF output.


Use As Property icon has been added to the Project tab of the Ribbon
The Use As Property icon will enable when a user selects a Closed Boundary or Area to be used as a new property boundary.
1. Select a closed boundary or Area
2. Click the Use As Property The selected boundary/area will be used as a new Property Boundary. A prompt will be displayed allowing the previous Property Boundary can be removed or saved as a Closed Boundary, which is placed on the active custom layer.


Property Boundary replacement can retain copy
When replacing the property boundary, using the Use As Property icon, keyed-in Use As Property function or when manually drawing a new property boundary, users can retain a copy of the property boundary as a closed boundary. The geometry will be placed on the current active custom layer.


Sidewalk visual has been added to the Cross-Section Template dialog
The Sidewalk is displayed in the Cross-Section Template dialog when Has Sidewalk is enabled.


Parking corner islands are rounded
The perimeter parking islands, located at corners, are now rounded. There isn't a setting, rather, SITEOPS finds a radius that simply fits.


Block Path and Block Boundaries can be copied
Block Paths and Block Boundaries can be copied in a revision. Previously, the blocks and associated settings were not copied with the path/boundary.
1. Select a block path or block boundary.
2. Click the Copy icon or use control copy (Ctlr + C) to copy the object.

3. Click the Paste icon or use control paste (Ctrl + V) to generate a copy on the cursor.


4. Click to place the copied path/boundary.

- Info Tool includes Rock Surface Elevation values, separated Topsoil Cut and Topsoil Fill values, Rock Cut values, and Earth Cut, Earth Fill values

Note
- Windows Home and Windows RT are not supported.
- We recommend that you not run Solid Edge on Server operating systems.
- Solid Edge stops certifying new releases against an operating system shortly after Microsoft drops mainstream support for it. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for Windows 7 in January 2015. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for Windows 8.1 in January 2018. Due to limited support from Microsoft and graphics card vendors for older operating systems, installation of Solid Edge on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 is not recommended. Solid Edge will install and run on these operating systems, but issues determined to be caused by an incompatibility between Solid Edge and an end of life operating system may not be fixed. Due to the potential for critical issues on these older operating systems, Solid Edge 2020 could be the last Solid Edge release that installs on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

ASAP 7nm Predictive PDK version 1p7 | 4.5 Gb

The Lawrence Clark, an Emeritus Professor in the School of Electrical, is pleased to announce the availability of ASAP 7nm PDK version 1p7. This PDK contains SPICE-compatible FinFET device models (BSIM-CMG), Technology files for Cadence Virtuoso, Design Rule Checker (DRC), Layout vs Schematic Checker (LVS) and Extraction Deck for the 7nm technology node.


Academic research in VLSI design and CAD, especially for advanced technology nodes has been severely limited by the lack of quality process design kit (PDK). Most advanced technology circuit and CAD research employ either SPICE-only predictive technology models or scale 45nm OpenPDK libraries to sub-10 or 7nm node dimensions. These methods omit important effects such as layout-dependent middle-of-line (MOL) parasitics, BEOL parasitics, multiple patterning effects, etc. As a result, even though academics pursue relevant CAD and VLSI research topics, the results and observations are not always reliable. For CAD research, utilizing scaled GDS/LEF layout files from 45nm technology node to sub-14nm dimensions can lead to erroneous conclusions and the researchers might not be even targeting the relevant problems. To bridge this gap, the ASAP7 PDK targeting the 7nm process node was developed in 2016 as a joint collaboration between ARM and Arizona State University for academic use. The PDK is realistic, based on current assumptions for the 7-nm technology node, but is not tied to any specific foundry.

The PDK contains SPICE-compatible FinFET device models (BSIM-CMG), Technology files for Cadence Virtuoso, Design Rule Checker (DRC), Layout vs Schematic Checker (LVS) and Extraction Deck for the 7nm technology node.

Lawrence Clark is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. He has approximately 15 years of industy experience at Intel and VLSI Technology Inc. He contributed to a number of miroprocessor and chipset designs and was most recently a principal engineer and circuit design manager for the Xscale microprocessors. He also worked on compact modeling, reliability modeling and CMOS imagers.

His areas of expertise include low power high performance VLSI radiation hardening and harsh environment VLSI CAD and device behavior for VLSI

This PDK version has been tested with Calibre 'aoi_cal_2017.4_19.14' and was found to be functional. This PDK version was found to be incompatible with the xACT extraction engine in Calibre 'aoi_cal_2018.2_52.40'. It is likely that other Calibre versions that succeed 'aoi_cal_2017.4_19.14' may be incompatible as well.

The Calibre tool environment is available through the Virtuoso toolbar. The DRC, LVS, and xACT runsets have been supplied with the PDK.
