The complexity and precision of the simulation model can be increased, if necessary. For example, single pre-defined model parameters can be replaced by measured values. A multitude of further functions allows the experienced user to model all conceivable processes, however complex they may be. For experts, user interfaces are provided to enable an adjustment of the calculation algorithms, e.g. for research purposes.

Unique Dual Solver Technology
Mature solver technologies, with the highest precision of reproducing the relevant physical effects, contribute substantially to the high quality of Simufact Forming's simulation results.

Simufact Forming offers two numerical calculation methods for the simulation that complement each other:

A finite-volume solver, based on MSC´s explicit Dytran solver, is used for the especially efficient simulation of warm and hot forging processes with significant burr formationA finite-elements solver, based on MSC´s implicit Marc solver for nonlinear applications, is used to simulate all process types.
Both solvers have continuously been developed by MSC over the past decades and make it possible to reproduce the complex, nonlinear physics of forming processes with the highest precision. These solver technologies offer the utmost precision in result by the use thermo-mechanical, elasto-plastic element formulation.

Besides the quality of the results, in practice the computation time is another especially relevant quality criteria. Only short computation times make the use of simulation software relevant for daily work. Simufact offers the efficient parallelization of simulation with its additional Performance module: The use of the highly effective methods, domain decomposition method (DDM) for the FE solver and shared memory parallelization (SMP) for FE and FV solvers, allows the computation time to be effectively decreased.

Applications of Simufact Forming
Simufact Forming allows for both two-dimensional (axisymmetric and planar) and three-dimensional simulations on the same graphical user interface. Three-dimensional simulations can use symmetries of the real process (cyclic symmetries as well!) to effectively reduce model size and computation effort. Any kind of transition from two- to three-dimensions, with or without symmetries, is possible.

All temperatures, from room temperature to almost melting point, can be simulated. The simulation always takes into account (even for cold forming processes) dissipation and friction heat, as well as the heat transfer with dies and the environment.

All (metallic) materials common to forming technology can be simulated. The material database shipped with the Simufact Forming Hub already includes:

In addition to this, typical tool steels for the characterization of elastic dies are included, too. The recrystallization behavior of steel and nickel based alloys can be examined with the module Microstructure Matilda.

All forming machines common to forming technology can be simulated. The user can describe special kinematics in table format. Rotating tools are simulated by the Rolling module. Simufact Forming simulates closed loop controlled aggregates such as those used for ring rolling or open die forging with the respective application modules.

However, using FilterSolutions, the design engineer need only enter the percentage of the passband and/or stopband to which the equi-ripple requirement should be applied. FilterSolutions will automatically synthesize passband and/or stopband attenuation requirements to the selected constricted percentage.

Filter performance outside the constricted range may be evaluated for a range of percentages of constricted ripple by slewing the constricted ripple percentage with the program's "Real Time Updates" (RTU), feature. When RTU is selected, one easily observes the filter performance outside the constricted passband and stopband as the percentage of constriction is varied.

Crowd Chamber is an audio plug-in that layers multiple variations of a signal to create a crowd simulation. Up to almost 2,000,000 layers can be produced enabling simple chorusing effects, small crowds and stadiums, on to impossible situations and effects.

When each voice is mixed, it is altered in varying time and spectral content, making unique versions of itself to create the illusion of different sources. This effect can be fed back onto itself to create many thousands of voices in real-time. Once the concept had been created it became clear that Crowd Chamber could create far more than simple crowd scenes. Because of the feedback, wave cancellations, and, simply, the thousands of layers, it is the perfect tool for creating strange and twisted effects. Crowd Chamber follows QuikQuak's other plug-ins with a visual, hands on approach. There is also a fast randomisation feature for rapid crowd creation.

MashTactic was initially designed as a mashup tool. It can separate different parts of a full mix, manipulating different frequencies and stereo location. Up to eight zones can be created that can then be panned, emphasised or cut out completely. It can be viewed as an eight band filter that exists in stereo ranges as well as frequency.

Transients of varying length can be separated from constant sounds, which allows the user to manipulate the initial punch of percussion, either by emphasising or softening the attack, this can be done separately in any of the eight zones:

8 stereo areas of sharp cut-off filtering.
Adjust levels separately in all selected zones.
Vocals and other sounds can be identified and manipulated within a full mix.
Allows the user to emphasise or cut percussive transients giving control over punch or softness in any zone.
Each zone can pan separately.
Great for analysing balance and frequency mix of a track you're composing.

Pitchwheel is a real-time pitch changing plug-in - it changes the pitch of a sound without changing its length. It has a large, easy to use, dial and simple parameters making it a fast and creative effect unit. It has a range of two semi-tones to two octaves, which gives you control from subtle tuning changes to wild swings of pitch. The user pointer acts as a desired pitch change, and the actual pitch is produced by smoothing and inertia controls. Pitchwheel moves towards the desired pitch at sample accuracy, enabling nice transitions without stepping. A DJ turntable feel can be created with some play, but the difference here is that the tempo remains the same, so your track can go on without sequence timing changes.

You can of course use it static, to create odd alien sounds, and character changes. Doppler effects can be simulated easily, or just use it to alter background atmospheres in real-time to get them just right. The stereo image is kept intact on all pitches, without movement across the channels. The buffer size parameter gives you control of the internal processing; some sounds work better on larger sizes, others, like percussion benefit from smaller buffers. All latencies are kept the same on all sizes.
