As a stand-alone, optional application for its CAM portfolio, the newly-available Designer enables users to create new designs or modify existing geometry from third party CAD systems.

John Buehler, from Vero Software, says Designer represents the CAD framework that will become the core modelling engine for all CAM applications. "It's not dependent on having a series of parameters that drive it, or a feature tree. It provides a very quick, dynamic editing and modelling environment, where users simply sketch, drag, hold, push or twist, to create and modify models.
He says having this single and unified solution for solids-based designs gives Vero users the flexibility of receiving a CAD file from any source, for review or modification.

"Some modellers do not maintain adequate tolerances, so the models will often require a degree of repair - or if they've only been roughly modeled there may be gaps in the geometry. Designer allows users to read the native CAD data.clean up any poor geometry, close the gaps, stitch it into a solid, and then make modifications that are important to the CAM process, such as the suppression of features, or the modification of draft angles.

"Generally, those modifications do not impact on a part's design or performance, but will make it more manufacturable."

While Designer operates separately from the CAM system, there are triggers within it which will launch CAM, and there is full associativity between the two. "From fixture design to quick and easy part modification, Designer is truly the right CAD for CAM, by providing a full set of tools to fill the gap between the two."

Major Designer Features:
-Direct Modelling. This frees the user from the constraints of a parametric modelling system. Rather than modifying a lengthy series of parameters to make a design change, desired shapes can be obtained by simply pushing, pulling and dragging the geometry. "These changes can be completely free-form, or driven by numeric increments and measurements taken from existing geometry," says John Buehler. "It's no longer necessary to know how the original model was constructed, and design changes aren't constrained to the original methods of creation.

-Import Model Healing. Small gaps between surfaces on imported models can be automatically healed, preventing the time consuming need to rebuild very small surface patches. Where surfaces are corrupt or missing, Designer automatically creates the edge curve geometry, making it easy to rebuild new faces. "And closing a surface model to produce a solid body eliminates construction problems later in the process.

-Feature Suppression.Incoming CAD data often includes geometry features that aren't necessary for CAM, or won't be created by the machining process." John Buehler says while many post-machining processes are frequently represented on the model, and are important for CAD design as they will ultimately be needed in the final component, they can hinder CAM programming. "Designer simply removes them and can save them for later operations if required, with just a mouse click.

-Model Simplification. As well as feature suppression, the geometry can also be simplified at various stages of the machining process. Removing portions of the model, such as intersecting features, speeds up machining and provides better results.

-Powerful Sketching. Designer's sketch capabilities make it easy to create 2D shapes using free-form input, which interacts with surrounding geometry.

-Geometry for Machining. Designer's many geometry creation techniques are essential to the machinist for model preparation. "Hole capping is a good example of this," he says. "It can be used to cap anything from a simple drilled hole, to a complex open cavity, with just a few mouse clicks. And an extensive range of curve creation routines vastly improves boundary formation.

-Working with 2D Data. After importing DXF and DWG files, existing 2D data can be transformed into a 3D model by reusing profiles from the original data, automatically creating sketch profile regions.

-Extensive Range of CAD Interfaces. Designer works with data from almost any CAD supplier. "Very large files can be handled with ease, and companies working with complex designs will benefit from the simplicity with which their customer's CAD data can be manipulated."

-John Buehler concludes by saying that while many modelling systems try to do everything for everyone, Designer focuses on the needs of machinist programmers, providing specific CAD for CAM.

Instrumental parts
The Parts feature allows you to store multiple versions of a score in the one song then select the part you want to use. Parts could be for scores for different instruments or versions of the song in different keys.

Linked audio track
Every song in Power Music can have an audio track linked to it. This can be used to play a backing track or simply as a help when practising. The audio track can be set to auto-play as soon as a song is selected from the playlist, or it can be played using a key press or a mouse click. The mini-player allows playback control and volume adjustment.

Features for visually impaired musicians
Power Music has been hailed as the greatest tool for VI musicians. Melody search
One of Power Music's unique features is the melody search. If you know the melody to a song, by simply noting if the next note in the melody is the same (s) as the last note, or higher (u) or lower (l), for the first 8 notes then you can find the song! For example, entering "udduudd" will find Silent Night.

Guitar tuner and metronome
Visual or audio metronome which can appear automatically or by key press. A tempo can be set for each song. The guitar tuner sounds the note for each string for tuning purposes.

RELEASE NOTES:

- New feature: ChordPro File import. Select from drop down list in the Chord Sheet editor. This will import the lyrics and chords of files in ChordPro format (including OnSong files). You can also copy and paste ChordPro text directly into the editor and Power Music will convert it to plain text.
- CCLI number is now included in date range usage reports.
- Quick Search now uses multiple criteria (use "+" for Boolean AND) eg Tomlin+Redman for all songs where Tomlin AND Redman are writers.

DisplayFusion comes bundled with over 30 pre-configured Functions, or you can create your own powerful custom Functions. Create Functions to load Wallpaper or Monitor Profiles, move windows around, change window opacity, toggle DisplayFusion features and much more. Any Function, including custom Functions that you've created, can be assigned to a TitleBar Button for easier access with the mouse, or to a keyboard shortcut for keyboard power users. Functions can also be assigned to the Jump List menus on the DisplayFusion Multi-Monitor Taskbars, allowing them to be run even on applications that are minimized.

Monitor Configuration
Use DisplayFusion to set your Monitor Configuration. Configure the resolution, colour depth, refresh rate and orientation. You can even save your configurations as Monitor Profiles that you can load later using a key combination or TitleBar Button. Link a Wallpaper Profile with your Monitor Profile to load your desktop wallpaper automatically based on the monitors you have connected.

Windows 8 Tweaks
The Windows 8 Tweaks in DisplayFusion provide extra options so that you can customize Windows 8 to your liking. Bypass the Start Screen to go directly to the Desktop, move the Power User Menu (Win + X) to the current mouse position, and more!

Window Snapping
DisplayFusion's Window Snapping feature makes it easy to line-up your windows with each other, or line-up your windows along a monitor edge. Just drag a window near a monitor edge or another window and release the mouse button to let DisplayFusion snap the window into place. Fully configurable, with the ability to ignore specific applications if needed.

Window Management
Use DisplayFusion's Window Management feature to easily move windows between your monitors. Whether you use the simple Middle-Click Move, or the more advanced Maximized Window Dragging, managing your desktop windows has never been so easy. You can even show tooltips when moving or resizing windows to help you position them precisely.

Window Location
The Window Location feature allows you to specify which monitor you would like selected applications to open on. You can customize this by specifying actions like maximize, centre, span or 'Run Function'. You can have all windows from the selected application open on the specified monitor, or only the first window.

Windows Logon Background
Use DisplayFusion's powerful Windows Logon background image changer to customize your logon screen. Load images from your computer, or from any of the online providers that DisplayFusion supports. Customize the image positioning and colours (greyscale, sepia... etc) to suit your taste.

Multi-Monitor Screen Savers
Why settle for one screen saver on your main monitor? With DisplayFusion you can span your screen saver across all monitors, or even display a different screen saver on each monitor. Use the default Windows screen savers, or load your own custom screen savers to fully customize your desktop.

Desktop Icon Profiles
Easily save and load your desktop icon layouts using DisplayFusion's Desktop Icon Profile feature. Loading a previously saved Desktop Icon Profile is an easy way to restore your familiar desktop icon layout when the icons get jumbled after adding or removing a monitor.

Deploy and manage DisplayFusion in your corporate environment with ease by using DisplayFusion's silent installer options, and custom ADMX templates for Active Directory Group Policy environments. Incredible fast and powerful search options. Search by title, first line, words in lyrics, author, category, melody, alternative titles and copyright information. Worship musicians can choose to search by Bible reference.

Create and share playlists
Search for a song and with one click or tap, add it to a playlist (setlist). Save and recall your playlists. Re-order the list, print it, or share it on Power Music Box for the other musicians and band members you play with to see it.

Transpose chord sheets, add capo chords
You can instantly transpose a chord sheet, either by selecting a key from a drop down list or in full screen performance mode by tapping + or - to transpose up or down. Select your capo key and the chords are displayed in brackets. It even tells you what fret to use.

Full screen display in portrait or landscape
In full screen mode you make the most of all the space on the screen. Menu and icon bars are switched off. The sidebar, which can also be switched on and off, shows the playlist, a clock, your performance notes and a link to an optional audio track, for example a backing track. Press 'M' or tap the clock and a metronome appears. Automatic single page display in portrait or multiple pages in landscape.

Social network and web links
As well as tagging, indexing and referencing your music, you can add web or social network links to all your songs. Clicking on an icon takes you to the artist's Facebook page, Twitter feed, YouTube video, iTunes song, or any other link you choose.

Organise music into libraries
If you play in different bands or play different instruments or teach different music courses, you can organise your music into Libraries to make searching and displaying your music simple.

Instrumental parts
The Parts feature allows you to store multiple versions of a score in the one song then select the part you want to use. Parts could be for scores for different instruments or versions of the song in different keys.

Linked audio track
Every song in Power Music can have an audio track linked to it. This can be used to play a backing track or simply as a help when practising. The audio track can be set to auto-play as soon as a song is selected from the playlist, or it can be played using a key press or a mouse click. The mini-player allows playback control and volume adjustment.

Features for visually impaired musicians
Power Music has been hailed as the greatest tool for VI musicians. Recommended by the RNIB and overseas VI organisations, Power Music has brought new life to musicians who thought their days of reading music were over. Enlarged music and configurable colours have made reading music possible for VI musicians all over the world.

Melody search
One of Power Music's unique features is the melody search. If you know the melody to a song, by simply noting if the next note in the melody is the same (s) as the last note, or higher (u) or lower (l), for the first 8 notes then you can find the song! For example, entering "udduudd" will find Silent Night.

Guitar tuner and metronome
Visual or audio metronome which can appear automatically or by key press. A tempo can be set for each song. The guitar tuner sounds the note for each string for tuning purposes.

RELEASE NOTES:

- New feature: ChordPro File import. Select from drop down list in the Chord Sheet editor. This will import the lyrics and chords of files in ChordPro format (including OnSong files). You can also copy and paste ChordPro text directly into the editor and Power Music will convert it to plain text.
- CCLI number is now included in date range usage reports.
- Quick Search now uses multiple criteria (use "+" for Boolean AND) eg Tomlin+Redman for all songs where Tomlin AND Redman are writers.
- CCLI button now links correctly to the updated CCLI website to search for title of the song.
- Fixed: Title now visible when going through song list of chord sheets in full screen
- Incorrect song was sometimes highlighted by rapid mouse movement in playlist in Full Screen - fixed.
- Landscape sheet music now scales correctly when printed.
- Other minor bug fixes.
