ANSYS 2019 R3: Introducing Motion

ANSYS Motion uses four tightly integrated solving schemes: rigid body, flexible body, modal and meshfree EasyFlex. ANSYS 2019 R3: SPEOS Update

- SPEOS Live Preview has been enhanced for more flexibility and easier interactivity. You can switch in one click between true and false color, adjust scale adaption to fit with the resulting preview, change the sensor to be previewed and more.
- SPEOS extends optical simulation into the ANSYS multiphysics platform. Meshed geometry is now compatible with body selection, making it possible to export the mesh data from the ANSYS multiphysics platform into ANSYS SPEOS to keep the same mesh definition throughout the complete multiphysics workflow.
- New sensor capabilities in SPEOS enable you to simulate the rotating lidar, a new ambient source U.S. standard atmosphere 1976 and thermal sources on infrared.
- SPEOS enhances your driving experience with cutting-edge features specifically dedicated to head-up display (HUD) development.
- The materials library in SPEOS contains a new library called Road Library for Sensors Simulation.

ANSYS 2019 R3: Introducing SCADE Vision
Because driving environments are increasingly complex, the cost of validating autonomous vehicle (AV) systems is skyrocketing. The future of AVs may depend on which grows faster: market size or validation costs. The industry needs a solution to break the "drive-find-fix" barrier for autonomous systems.

From a safety perspective, complexity is about how many edge cases AV perception systems may encounter. An edge case is a situation - unforeseen in the design phase - that can result in operational failure . or worse.

Newest addition to ANSYS embedded software family: ANSYS SCADE Vision. SCADE Vision speeds up the discovery of edge case-related vulnerabilities in your AV perception software. ANSYS 2019 R3: Additive Manufacturing Update
The latest release of ANSYS additive manufacturing (AM) software includes these new features, among others:
- ANSYS Additive Prep has a new build processor which allows you to export a build file directly to an AM machine.
- ANSYS Workbench Additive enables you to switch easily between viewing the STL supports, mesh or element densities. It also features an option to remove STL supports after cooldown on the AM process sequencer.
ANSYS Additive Print also has multiple new features with regards to supports:
- Support-only cutoff enables you to cut the support from the part but leaves the part attached to the baseplate under the displacement after cutoff output option.
- The Support Groups feature enables multiple supports in a single simulation, including a mix of volume-less and solid support types.

ANSYS 2019 R3: Mechanical Update

ANSYS Fluent now quickly and easily evaluates very complex reduced-order models (ROMs) to explore design alternatives. For a cross flow heat exchanger, the ROM capability provides a solution for each design point in as little as one second versus over two hours for a full simulation. Learn how ROMs may be post-processed and evaluated in Fluent to gain insight far beyond the numerical output previously available - for example, to compute derived quantities, create plots along surfaces and more

ANSYS 2019 R3: Discovery SpaceClaim Update
This release added new enhancements for designers in ANSYS Discovery SpaceClaim, including automatic skinning to convert faceted geometry into "watertight" models for reverse engineering and generative design.

ANSYS 2019 R3: Fluids Update
Fluids simulation users will find that ANSYS 2019 R3 includes many enhancements that further simplify the user experience and broaden use to new applications. The new Fluent experience has been improved so you can enjoy more CFD in less time, with less training.

ANSYS 2019 R3: Discovery Live and Discovery AIM Update
Find out how to unlock generative design capabilities in ANSYS Discovery Live - the first interactive topology optimization tool to deliver groundbreaking speed to help you find optimal designs in minutes. Last release will walk you through additional simulation functionality, including mass flow outlets and time-varying inputs. Also added advanced physics updates in ANSYS Discovery AIM, including structural beams support, physics-aware meshing enhancements and linear buckling capabilities.

ANSYS 2019 R3: Introducing DCS
ANSYS Distributed Compute Services (DCS) is a family of applications that allows you to efficiently and robustly distribute, manage and solve simulations across a heterogeneous variety of compute resources. It includes a Design Point Service (DPS) to help you manage (run, filter, sort and compare) tens of thousands of design points spread across clusters, networks and operating systems. It can even break up a project so that parts of it (such as geometry creation) can be handled on resources best suited for it while other parts (such as the solver runs) can be handled on hardware best suited for those sorts of tasks. DCS can help you get the most out of your available compute resources, and then DPS can help you sort through the results to find the best designs.

ANSYS 2019 R3: VRXPERIENCE HMI Update
New features of ANSYS VRXPERIENCE HMI in ANSYS 2019 R3: added application programming interface (API) for establishing a lease line connection to the human-machine interface (HMI). The API facilitates running and interacting with your embedded software in virtual reality (VR) or software-in-the-loop (SIL) systems. It offers out-of-the-box compatibility with ANSYS SCADE and ANSYS SCADE Display. At the same time, the API enables cosimulation with different flight simulators. You can assess the usability and workflows of your HMI under specific flight conditions - to safely test emergency situations with full-cockpit interactivity and validate the HMI from the pilot's perspective.

VRXPERIENCE HMI also offers new capabilities to prepare a virtual mock-up of the user experience. You can now extract and merge surfaces for selecting geometry sub-elements at lower levels, split surface elements into smaller elements, remove surface elements from a geometry and apply different materials or light on sub-elements. It facilitates the data preparation of material, lighting and HMI actuators, and accelerates the CAD preparation workflow.

- Updates an issue that prevents certain games from leveraging Spatial Audio capabilities.
- Updates an issue that fails to provide a cursor when you select a text input box using touch.
- Updates an issue that may cause the name of an unsupported application to appear as default text, such as "ms-resource:AppName/Text" in the Start menu after upgrading the operating system.
- Updates an issue with downloading copyrighted digital media (music, TV shows, movies, and so on) from certain websites using Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.
- Improves the user experience and app compatibility so that more Win32 apps will work with Windows Mixed Reality.

Improvements and fixes
This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

- Addresses an issue that displays a black screen when you use Remote Desktop to connect to a machine running Windows 10, version 1903.
- Addresses an issue that may prevent the Windows Sandbox from starting with the error, "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002)." This occurs on devices in which the operating system language is changed during the update process when installing Windows 10, version 1903.
- Increases the number of supported interrupts per device to 512 on systems that have x2APIC enabled.
- Addresses an issue that prevents some Trusted Platform Module (TPM) devices from being used for Next Generation Credentials.
- Addresses an issue that causes a workstation to stop working when you sign in using an updated user principal name (UPN) (for example, changing UserN@contoso.com to User.Name@contoso.com).
- Addresses an issue that prevents Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) from running automated forensic data collection when using registry-based proxy configuration.
- Addresses an issue that prevents Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) from sending cyberspace events for paths beginning with \\tsclient.
- Addresses a possible compatibility issue when Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) accesses case-sensitive Server Message Block (SMB) shares.

- Addresses an issue that may prevent devices from starting up or cause them to continue restarting if they are connected to a domain that is configured to use MIT Kerberos realms. Domain controllers and domain members are both affected.
- Addresses an issue that may cause the following to stop responding:
. Applications that were made using Visual Basic 6 (VB6).
. Macros that use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
. Scripts or apps that use Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript).

The Ansys product team is pleased to announce the availability of Ansys Discovery Live 2019 R3 is the ground-breaking new product for early stage design simulation or product development, which enables engineering simulation to be used by a wider range of engineers to resolve design questions earlier in the design process.

ANSYS Discovery Live 2019 R3 Enhancements

ANSYS Discovery Live provides instantaneous simulation, tightly coupled with direct geometry modeling, to enable interactive design exploration and rapid product innovation. It is an interactive experience in which you can manipulate geometry, materials and physics, and instantaneously see 3-D results. New capabilities in ANSYS Discovery Live 2019 R3 include:

Application - Improvements to the user interface have madet he application easier to use. Legend usage has been enhanced. Time varying boundary conditions have been added. You can also copy and paste boundary conditions by selecting the boundary condition arrow and pressing CTRL+C to copy. Then, selecta face andpress CTRL+V to paste. A selected body can now be saved between solutions.
Results/post-processing - Improvements to the user interface. Pressure drop has been added to calculate the difference between the two locations. You can now specify internal surface for calculation location. Vector tool has been added for transient.
Fluids - Support for mass flow out of domain in fluids has been added.
Topology Optimization (Beta) - This new feature is high speed, interactive, and it generates the optimal shape from loading conditions and design constraints. Options to validate the solution and convert to CAD have been added. Option to use target volume has been added. You can also now save the topology optimization settings.

ANSYS Discovery Live is a GPU-based real-time simulation package that combines CAD modeling simulation environments into one super-responsive arena, where users can view how changes to their designs will affect simulations-in real time. No more meshing. And gone are the days of post-processing. Post-processing is now just . processing! Note, that as Ansys Discovery Live is GPU-based, you will require a GPU to run it. Ansys recommends a dedicated NVIDIA GPU card based on the Kepler, Maxwell or Pascal architecture (or newer) with at least 4GB of video RAM (8GB preferred). (Tested it on a NVIDIA GTX 980, and had no noticeable issues. )

ANSYS Discovery Live comes with Discovery AIM and Discovery SpaceClaim, too, in case you want to set up a more in-depth simulation or perform some 3D modeling.

In terms of usability and function, it ANSYS Discovery Live succeeds at the task of making simulation accessible to designers (and not just engineers). It does seem a little limited in terms of the type of calculations available, but if you really want to run more in-depth physics studies, you can always send the file directly to ANSYS Discovery AIM. This is a useful design tool, but it is not a design validation tool.

But that's the entire point of ANSYS Discovery Live. ANSYS wants simulation to become a part of early-phase conceptual design. Sure, you wouldn't use Discovery Live for a critical bridge design, where the physics need to be verified, but you can get a good idea of how an unusual design (such as winglets on a garbage truck) may affect the efficiency of the product. It gives you the freedom to explore out-there ideas in the early stages, without the need for meshing or post-processing. That's a good thing.

More importantly, it's actually kind of fun to use. It's almost like a video game, where the player has to reach some particular value by changing model geometry.

ANSYS Electronics Desktop is a comprehensive platform that enables electrical engineers to design and simulate various electrical, electronic and electromagnetic components, devices and systems. It is a unified interface which creates and analyzes electromagnetic (EM), thermal and circuit designs.

Engineers can access gold-standard tools such as ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS Maxwell, ANSYS Q3D Extractor and ANSYS Icepak using electrical CAD (ECAD) and mechanical CAD (MCAD) workflows. In addition, the Electronics Desktop includes direct links to the full ANSYS portfolio of thermal, fluid and mechanical solvers for comprehensive multiphysics analyses.

Blackmagic Design is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Davinci Resolve Studio 16.1 Public Beta 2. This update adds the ability to quickly create close up edits using facial recognition to automatically reframe and zoom in on faces. DaVinci Resolve Studio 16.1 Public Beta 2 also adds support for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera presets in the Fusion 3D camera and camera tracker tools, adds tooltips with track names on the mini track view, improves metadata accuracy when restoring or importing projects, provides more responsive scrubbing for long clips on the cut page and improves playback performance on the media, cut and edit pages.

DaVinci Resolve 16.1 includes all of the same high quality processing as DaVinci Resolve 16.1 Studio and can handle unlimited resolution media files. However it does limit project mastering and output to Ultra HD resolutions or lower. DaVinci Resolve 16.1 only supports a single processing GPU on Windows and Linux and 2 GPUs on the latest Mac Pro.
