We are happy to announce that after much development and testing Yeti 4.0 is now available. Here is an brief overview of what's new in this release.

Sampler nodes
We've introduced a new type of node, called a Sampler node, which provides a more visual and flexible means of controlling parameters. These can be used to build an input flow to any number of parameters that visually constructs a context aware expression that is compiled and evaluated at runtime.
There are three new nodes, Curve, Noise and Expression and the Texture node has been refactored to be used as a Sampler to be able to directly wired into parameters.


Graph editor, grouping and presets
Nodes can now be grouped to make graph organization easier with the ability to save either these new groups or node selections as presets to be re-used and shared within the studio environment. A quick menu, using the TAB key, has been introduced along with a new UI theme.


Strand Simulation
Yeti's simulation engine has been refactored to provide more accurate and stable results along with improved collision detection for better collision response.
A Density Gradient field continuum has been added that introduces psuedo strand to strand collisions for better volume preservation.
Region of Interest
A Region of Interest can be added to a Yeti node to limit graph evaluation and results to a bounding volume which provides a way of focusing in on little details while also speeding up iteration due to the limit evaluation.
Clumping
The Clump node has undergone a major refactor inheriting the volumetric clumping of the guide curves and removing the need for a second input relying on a fractal based clumping method and a subset of the inputs fibres to clump too.
Component Editing
More options when editing Grooms in Component Editing mode including the ability to edit along the length of the curve and stretch/pull strands for finer control.

Maya Plug-In Configuration

Yeti's distribution takes advantage of Maya's Module scheme, where a single .mod file located in the installation root can be used to define the location of all plugins, scripts and icons needed ot use Yeti.

Once you have extracted Yeti to the location of your choosing there are a few quick steps that need to be followed to make sure Yeti can be used properly within Maya.

We highly recommending storing the Yeti distribution in a directory that reflects the version of Yeti being used, when new builds are downloaded you should create new directories along side this one and should only have to update a few varialbes to "upgrade".

First you will need to edit the pgYetiMaya.mod file that can be found in the root directory of the Yeti distribution and replace path_to_yeti_root with the full path to the Yeti root directory ( which is most likely the directory the file is in ).

Then you will need to set the environment variable MAYA_MODULE_PATH to point to the directory when the previously edited .mod file resides, if you are unsure how to set environment variables please refer to this article for reference.

Please note, if you are installing on Windows you will also need to add the Yeti bin directory to your global PATH environment variable.

Once completed you will be able to load the plug-in from Maya's plug-ins window by selected pgYetiMaya.so/dylib/dll from the plug-ins manager.

PLAXIS Monopile Designer CONNECT Edition V21 Update 1 | 3.7 Gb

The PLAXIS development team is pleased to announce the availability of PLAXIS Monopile Designer CONNECT Edition V21 Update 1 is a software package intended for the design of monopiles asfoundation elements for offshore wind turbines under lateral loading conditions.

Calibration with target displacement at mudline in PLAXIS Monopile Designer
In previous versions, it was only possible to impose a prescribed displacement at the top of the pile, which required guessing before calculating how that would translate into the desired displacement at the mudline. This led to calculations either taking longer than needed or some trial-and-error to find the right value of the prescribed displacement. This parameter has been replaced by a target displacement at mudline, relative to the diameter of the monopile. PLAXIS Monopile Designer will automatically estimate the prescribed displacement imposed at the top and automatically stop the analysis when the calculation reaches the target point. This makes the Calibration process much more efficient and predictable. When further combined with the Subspace accelerator, now active by default, it can lead to significant speed improvement.

Target displacement at mudline for Calibration
The geometry data set parameter 'imposed displacement at pile top', vmax,z=h, was replaced by 'relative target displacement at mudline', vg/Dout. This change provides more control when the calculation is completed, thereby reducing the time required for Calibration.

Updated Python environments to remove security vulnerabilities on some of the included packages.

New features

Subspace accelerator in phase settings
Subspace acceleration is enabled for generating PLAXIS 3D models. The new subspace acceleration reduces calculation time for Calibration Benchmarks significantly.
Copy - pasting of data into tables
Improved copy-pasting of data into tables. It is not necessary for the dimensions of source and target selections to be identical.

Fixed issues
A large number of issues have been addressed, including:
[504922] Fixed a bug when trying to view PLAXIS 3D results several times.
[500785] Pile base forces are now considered when exporting data to SACS.
[500779] The last known save location is stored during export to SACS.

PLAXIS Monopile Designer (formerly PLAXIS MoDeTo) introduces an enhanced design method for monopile foundations. It transfers the results of the PISA Joint Industry Research Project to daily engineering practice. PLAXIS Monopile Designer enables dramatic reductions in the amount of steel of each monopile and, as such, in the overall costs of any wind farm. It can be used as a stand-alone tool for the rule-based design method and in connection with PLAXIS 3D for the numerical-based design method.

We are happy to announce that in April 2021 we released all-new PLAXIS versions: CONNECT Edition V21 Update 1. This includes PLAXIS 2D, PLAXIS 3D, PLAXIS 2D LE, PLAXIS 3D LE, PLAXIS Designer, and PLAXIS Monopile Designer.

CONNECT Edition V21 Update 1 adds functionality to improve productivity by improving the numerical process for non-linear systems using the new subspace accelerator, and we can use a new API to automate Limit Equilibrium slope stability analyses. On top of that, we made running analyses for offshore analysis of suction buckets easier using the new PLAXIS-SACS Suction Bucket Analysis tool.

By consolidating the product lines for geotechnical analysis since Version 21, we can now make big steps in interoperability between the Finite Element solution and the Limit Equilibrium solutions. The new consolidated PLAXIS product line also offers great new functionality with new constitutive soil models, e.g., NorSand, PM4Silt, and a new way to deal with unsaturated soil strength. We invested in improvements on tunnel CAD import. And we added a calculation convergence log to better understand the numerical process.
