Chaos Group releases V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D, a massive upgrade that packs every advancement from V-Ray 5 and V-Ray Next into one easy-to-use rendering solution. V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D can fit into any production workflow, saving artists countless hours with its built-in compositing, interactive light mixing and scene intelligence tools that render scenes up to 7x faster.


Beyond Rendering

With Light Mix, artists can create dozens of lighting scenarios from a single render. Color and light intensity can now be adjusted instantly in the new V-Ray Frame Buffer (VFB) without ever having to render again. Once everything is right, artists can save their recipes, send the layers to compositing and update the lights in their scenes.

For the first time, a new Layer Compositor will allow artists to composite their renders directly in the VFB. Users can now combine and grade render passes, set blending modes and adjust colors without using a separate application.

Scene Intelligence

To remove unnecessary set-up time from the creative equation, V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D comes with automatic scene analysis tools that will help artists produce faster, cleaner renders with no extra effort.

Cleaner, more accurate environment lighting can now be produced up to 7x faster with the Adaptive Dome Light (ADL). Point-and-shoot-style timesavers like Automatic Exposure and Automatic White Balance are now part of the V-Ray Physical Camera, so achieving the perfect render will be as easy as taking a snapshot. AI denoising has also been added to offer noise-free updates at interactive speeds, providing instant insights into lighting adjustments.

Faster GPU Rendering

The same V-Ray GPU architecture that made it two times faster in V-Ray Next is now delivered to C4D users. Artists can now take full advantage of their hardware, rendering on GPUs, CPUs or a combination of both. With full support for NVIDIA RTX cards, V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D is primed for rapid boosts, helping artists hit the highest heights of production rendering.

The Siemens Digital Industries Software development team is pleased to announce the availability of NX 1953 Build 1700 (NX 1953 Series), the latest release of NX, which brings significant significant new and enhanced functionality in all areas of the product, as well as several new design tools, to help you work more productively and efficiently to build your 3D digital twin.

NX December release details - Date: December 11, 2020

In the design application an all new Algorithmic Modeling feature, Convergent Modeling upgrades, and new design for additive manufacturing functionalities. The Assemblies application, Model Based Definition, Appearance Management, PCB Exchange, and Mold, Tool, and Die applications all see major upgrades.

Sketch
NX is bringing the biggest leap forward to sketching and this allows you a 30% reduction in the time you spend capturing your design ideas. The all new sketcher was introduced in the previous release of NX six months ago. The future of sketching doesn't stop there. In this release of NX we've added enhancements to the sketcher process with enhanced visual information and ease of creation.

NX sketching now anticipates what you are going to drag or modify. Sketch does the geometric constraining for you as needed and applies geometric relationships for you based on surrounding geometry. This works seamlessly with data regardless of the source. The new approach to Sketch allows users to capture ideas as they iterate and make changes as needed, instead of approaching CAD after the initial iterations have been sketched out by hand. We've reduced the click count needed to create a sketch so you won't get into a situation where you need to enter a plane, vector, and point to initialize the sketch. As you can see by the image on the right, we've add large, labeled, principal planes that can be selected to easily initialize a sketch. When picking on a plane to start your sketch, there's also now a visual indicator, the word "Sketch." This to show the orientation of the sketch.


Algorithmic Modeling
With NX Algorithmic Modeling, it is now possible to design and engineering complex product forms and features that can be saved as a template and easily reused in similar design workflows. This tool garners a lot of interest in auto, aero, energy and consumer. Any industry where you need to make complex, variationally patterned shapes will be greatly helped by this tool.

The new NX Algorithmic Modeling application allows designers and engineers to create complex designs previously only attainable through days of effort or advanced programming knowledge. Design algorithms can be easily constructed using a logic editor. Algorithms can be saved and reused by the broader design and engineering community.

Convergent Modeling
Convergent Modeling in NX features new updates this time around. The updates to the Convergent technologies increase the value of convergent generated geometry, via scan or CAE, for downstream use without reverse engineering. Convergent Bodies with Mixed Geometry lets convergent bodies be comprised of mesh and analytic faces together. Replace Face of Mesh is a new command that lets users easily replace portions of mesh with analytics geometry.

Create engineered structures using implicit methods that are not feasible using traditional CAD methods. Implicit Modeling is a new optional module for the creation of equation driven structures, and performing robust modeling operations on complex designs. Industries that will benefit most from Implicit Modeling include those who are in the Additive Manufacturing market: Aero, energy, medical, and auto.

Design for Additive Manufacturing
Quickly create strong designs that require less resources to construct than with traditional CAD methods. Increased engineering flexibility and speed in designing performance structures only possible through additive. Lattice Structures in this release show increased flexibility of engineered structures which leverages the power of NX CAD modeling for the design of the unit cell. Lattice Structures updates improve engineering productivity and quality. Better quality faceting, for a much cleaner result. Creation time for lattices are blindingly fast, with up to 93% creation time reduction.

Wrap Mesh is also a new command that aids in preparing STL/Mesh models for 3D Printing. Wrap Mesh wraps a volume of interest into a water tight mesh body. There are options to control mesh and gap sizing.

Model Based Definition
In Model Based Definition, creating annotations is traditionally a manual process. Imagine a solution that could address this challenge. NX will allow users who have already adopted MBD to be more productive and efficient. For users that haven't adopted MBD, our MBD solution will act as a kickstart and an accelerator (it no longer takes too much time to add the data in, for example.) We are helping our users get over previously perceived roadblocks to MBD.

Model based definition offers enhancements that deliver 3 distinct values to you.

- Removing tedious processes
- Capturing business intelligence
- Insure the PMI is compliant with industry and company standards

Automated authoring of PMI introduces an artificial intelligence powered solution. You will find an interactive Logic Editor diagramming interface that supports building and executing rules used to author PMI. This automation speeds up and simplifies tedious manual work, even for users without experience in MBD.

Capturing business intelligence - not only doing it faster, but better. Gain better insight with richer data. Capture key characteristics inside the model with the latest updates: this not only is it faster its also more intelligent, allowing better and more insightful capturing of design data. Instead of having to manually find and enter these specs, it is automatically captured with NX MBD.

With this update, you won't need to depend on individual experts to make sure you are compliant, so you can produce high quality parts in less time. With PMI Advisor for validation and guidance this will remove the dependency on highly trained GD&T experts.

Assemblies
The upgrades to Assemblies in this release of NX is focused around Multi-User Design. NX supports a truly collaborative design environment by proactively notifying users of changes in their design context. Save time and eliminate rework by discovering changes as they occur and automatically update in your design context.

When you have multiple users in the same area, and they have each others parts open (not really an ownership of a file, but rather attribution), this keeps everyone on the same page and up-to-date on design changes. It lets you make sure you're working on the latest version of your parts - which is great for large and interdisciplinary teams. This is not multiple users making changes simultaneously: you check out and check in, it's not instantaneous. If another user has a part checked out, you'll know.

Appearance Management
Appearance Management is a brand-new tool that will have significant application and benefit for many of our users in various industries. Whether you're in automotive, consumer products, or any other industry, if you need to show product configuration variety, how can you do that easily?

Simple. With Appearance Management, now managed in Teamcenter. We've addressed the challenges around visually demonstrating product configuration variety so that you can easily display a range of looks. This new tool gives an edge to all users that need to be able to display their variety of products visually.


This is not limited to High End Rendering. This could and should support any Visual Twin representation. Appearance Management can be run in team center, as well as natively in NX.

PCB Exchange
Enhancements in this area are critical for users in the consumer electronics and high tech industry. This impacts you or your organization if they develop personal products, design electronics in devices (since devices are getting smaller), and those who seek to disrupt mature industry with innovations in electronics.

Flexible PCD updates offer our users a unique edge that no one else in the CAD space can match. We offer a complete set of tools for designing flexible circuits and cable components. As our users' need to create innovative product designs increases, we've given electronics designers the ability to outpace the competition with new capabilities around Rigid-Flex Design, and flat solid enhancements.

We are also proud to announce Rigid Flex as part of our design solution. This industry first (we are the only one who offers this!) tool which allows for the creation, editing, and collaboration of Rigid-Flex designs in NX. This enables designers the ability to produce a fully flattened model for collaboration and downstream processes.

Mold, Tool, and Die
New tools within NX's Mold, Tool, and Die solution enhance our users' workflow experience by consolidating necessary applications and by leveraging automation to speed up manual processes. The solutions and enhancements in this area are especially impactful for designers in the automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and medical spaces.

Users can rapidly simulate the thermal performance of an injection mold insert - previously, calculations took a long time, and users had to switch between CAD and CAE systems. Now it's all in one system so the workflow is much faster, and helps designers stay focused by enabling them to stay in a single software environment. This is possible with Mold Cooling Analysis which is a very simple to use tool for designers.

Another big enhancement to Mold, Tool, and Die, Forming Analysis is a new tool that contributes to seamless workflow integration within NX, by helping perform both design and validation in (once again) a single software environment. With Forming analysis you can simulate forming and springback analysis.

Siemens become the first major CAD/CAM/CAE vendor to deliver its software using Continuous Release methodology in January 2019. The new Continuous Release process significantly reduce the time between the proposal of a new enhancement, and its deployment to the end users. Customers will now have the opportunity to deploy the latest NXSeries productivity enhancements more quickly in their production environment which helps them become more productive when using NXSeries. In addition the Continuous Release will also reduce deployment costs for incremental updates.

Files save in the NX-1953 Series (NX-1953 and higher) cannot be opened in the NX-1026 Series and lower versions of the NX

Minimum Operating Systems
- Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) Pro and Enterprise editions

Windows 10
Windows 10 is the minimum supported release for NX 1926. The supported versions of Windows 10 are the Pro and Enterprise editions utilizing Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) updates.
Windows 7 and 8.1
Windows 7 has reached the end of life and mainstream support has ended. Windows 8.1 is still supported by Microsoft, but was rarely deployed. These two versions of Windows are no longer supported by NX 1926. Siemens Digital Industries Software has not performed testing on these version and cannot resolve any issues related to NX 1926 running on these operating systems. If NX 1926 is deployed on these versions of Windows, any issues will have to be replicated on Windows 10 before filing an incident report with GTAC.
Windows XP and Vista
Windows XP support from Microsoft has ended and Vista was rarely deployed so these two versions of Windows are not supported by NX 1926. Siemens PLM Software has not performed testing on these versions and cannot resolve any issues related to NX 1926 running on these operating systems. If NX 1926 is deployed on these versions of Windows, any issues will have to be replicated on Windows 10 before filing an incident report with GTAC

PATCH RELEASE HEEDS 2020.2.1

BDS P ORTAL : ADDITIONAL PARAMETERS AVAILABLE FOR TAGGING
In the previous version of HEEDS, only optimizable parameters in the Main Physical Cell Description section of an input .tbm file were available for tagging. With this new release, all optimizable parameters from Builder, active IET, active Thermal and active Electrolyte sections in an input .tbm file are available for tagging in HEEDS.


Note:
- Parameters from active Electrolyte section will be available for tagging only when active IET = Distributed 3D.

BDS P ORTAL : ADDITIONAL RESPONSES AVAILABLE FOR TAGGING
In the previous version of HEEDS, only responses from an .out file can be extracted. With this new release, in addition to responses from an .out file the user can also tag responses available in the Report and BOM sections of an output .tbm file.

CATIA P ORTAL : ADDITIONAL PARAMETERS AVAILABLE FOR TAGGING
In the previous version of HEEDS, The CATIA portal did not report the error status for designs that were raising an error. In the new version, the portal saves a copy of the error designs with the parameters in their error state, so finding the root cause of the error is now much easier and improves CAD robustness.

MISCELLANEOUS MDO FIXES AND ENHANCEMENTS
[Bug 6455] Parameter names with square brackets are correctly showed In the previous version, HEEDS showed invalid tag entries if the parameters' name contains square brackets. This is now fixed, and parameters' names are showed correctly.
MISCELLANEOUS S OLVER FIXES AND ENHANCEMENTS
[Bug 6186] Simultaneous jobs now run correctly In the past, for evaluation only studies that contained more than one experiment to be run at the same time, the second parallel batch of analyses was not run till the first parallel batch was completed. This is now fixed and works as expected.
MISCELLANEOUS P ORTAL AND TAGGING FIXES AND ENHANCEMENTS
[Bug 6419] NX 12 projects now run correctly In the HEEDS 2020.2 release, NX 12 projects failed to run even if the same project could be run successfully with HEEDS 2020.1.1. This is now fixed and NX 12 projects can be successfully run as expected.
[Bug 6305] Star-CCM+ portal can now run large simulation files with many parts In the past release, when running a Star-CCM+ portal analysis with almost 1000 parts inside the sim file, HEEDS froze and didn't proceed. This is now fixed and large simulation project files with thousands of parts can be run successfully.
[Bug 6305] Simcenter Prescan portal now supports version 2020.3 In the previous release, the Simcenter Prescan portal was supporting only up to version 2020.2. With this patch, support for version 2020.3 of Simcenter Prescan has been added.
[Bug 6132] Simcenter Prescan output parsing now works when using the "Reload file" button In the previous release, when using the "reload file" button in the output tagging, the output file was not reloaded. This is now fixed and the reload button correctly performs the expected operation.
[Bug 6075] Simcenter Prescan now regenerates Simulink models correctly In the HEEDS 2020.2 release, models with variables prescribing different positions need to be regenerated in Simulink to produce different outputs. This is now fixed and the portal automatically regenerates Simulink models as expected.
[Bug 6059] Hyperlynx portal now correctly displays subgroup name In the HEEDS 2020.2 release, subgroups were not correctly displayed when tagging variables. This is now fixed and subgroups are displayed as expected.
[Bug 6058] Hyperlynx portal now correctly imports discrete variables baseline In the HEEDS 2020.2 release, when importing discrete variables, their baseline value was correctly shown in the auto-tag wizard but not correctly imported after exiting the wizard. This is now fixed and the correct baseline is set for discrete variables.
[Bug 5964] JSON files are correctly parsed in Linux In the previous release, JSON files parsing resulted in an error when selecting Python 2.x as parsing engine under Linux. This is now fixed and parsing works correctly also under Linux.
[Bug 2149] NX CAD portal correctly tags expression formulas with parenthesis In the previous release, when tagging expression formulas with parenthesis, the resulting tag was truncated, and the values not extracted. This is now fixed and expression formulas with parenthesis are correctly tagged.

Chaos Group released V-Ray 5, hotfix 2 for Maya, a updated version of its Academy-Award winning production renderer.
