Jinenkan Dōjōchō, Adam Mitchell and 5th degree Black Belt, details the methods of training and conditioning for how he teaches Jissen Kobudō, the realistic classical fighting arts of Japan. Mr. Mitchell is a personal student of Lt. Col. (ret.) Fumio Manaka, Kanchō of the International Jinenkan organization.

The goal of this course is to help you develop and continually refine your skills in Taijutsu. Whether you are a student of the Koryū, Jūjutsu, Ninjutsu, Karate, Aikido or any style of art, this course introduce you to new techniques and principles.

All of the video lessons are professionally recorded and edited with high quality narration, multiple angles and slow motion repeats.

In the first sections, you will learn protocol, posture, conditioning, striking basics, blocking basics, kicking and receiving kicks as well as traditional training patterns

In the following sections, you will learn methods of receiving takedowns, evading and countering attacks with break-fall and rolling. The characteristic body movements of taihenjutsu are covered in detail. Students will then be taken through the takedowns and reversal exercises taught at the Jinenkan Dōjō and in the traditional kata we study.

The final sections are centered on using the previous lessons studied on the ground including use of grappling, submission and choking. Never before has this material been presented in such a concise and informative way.

Why was Christopher Columbus's voyage to the Americas in 1492 arguably the most important event in the history of the world? Professor Marshall C. Eakin of Vanderbilt University argues that it gave birth to the distinct identity of the Americas today by creating a collision between three distinct peoples and cultures: European, African, and Native American.

As the inheritors of this legacy, some 500 years hence, we forget how radically the discovery of the Americas transformed the view of the world on both sides of the Atlantic.

A People Unknown, A Land Unmentioned

When Columbus completed his "enterprise of the Indies" he found a people unlike any he had ever known and a land unmentioned in any of the great touchstones of Western knowledge.

Animated by the great dynamic forces of the day, Christianity and commercial capitalism, the European world reacted to Columbus's discovery with voyages of conquest-territorial, cultural, and spiritual.

For the native peoples of the Americas, the consequences were no less dramatic.

When Hernán Cortés arrived to conquer Mexico, the Aztecs feared he was a god, returned from exile to claim his ancient lands.

For all intents and purposes, he may well have been.

Within half a century, Old World germs and diseases had reduced native populations by as much as 90 percent.
The great empires of the Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas, which had developed over centuries, were undone in a matter of years.
The religious orders of the Dominicans, Franciscans, and Jesuits undertook to convert the native peoples to Christianity.
Finally, the engine of European capitalism, embodied in the great plantation estates and mining complexes in Mexico and Peru, transformed the day-to-day life of the native peoples.

Enormous and Tragic Consequences

This collision of cultures also had enormous consequences for the peoples of Africa. The transatlantic slave trade, the largest forced migration in human history, changed the lives of millions of Africans and initiated one of the most tragic chapters in the history of the Americas.

And yet, this course is no simple account of heroes and villains, or victors and victims. It is a dramatic, sweeping tale of the complex blending of three peoples into one.

Through Dr. Eakin's thoughtful and detailed lectures, you understand how these three peoples formed completely new societies and cultures that were neither European, African, nor Indian. Instead, they were uniquely American.

History from Above and Below

In telling this story, Professor Eakin combines two approaches to history:

What has been called "history from above," or the study of heroic and elite figures that played a key role in shaping history
"History from below," the story as told by the great majority of common people who experienced this history firsthand.

While Dr. Eakin readily identifies and shares his analysis and interpretation of events, he also generously showcases competing views, and you benefit enormously from the numerous works he cites for further study.

He delivers his evenhanded lectures with one eye on the latest academic research and the other on classic scholarship of the past and original sources.

Those sources include the famous Florentine Codex, a retelling of the Spanish conquest of Mexico by the people who experienced it. It was compiled by a Spanish priest in Nahuatl, the native language of the Aztec Indians.

The Old World and the New

Professor Eakin sets the table for this history of the Americas by examining these two worlds as they developed in isolation for thousands of years.

You discover the wondrous accomplishments of the three great Native American empires, the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayas. These sprawling empires mastered the domestication of crops and animals, as well as the control of water so necessary for a society to develop.

You learn how all three had complex religions, imperial ideologies, and impressive technological expertise:

The Maya had intricate calendrical systems based on knowledge of mathematics and astronomy that rivaled the achievements of the Old World.
The Incas administered, without a written language, an empire that stretched along most of the South American coast.
The Aztecs, like the Incas, built an enormous empire, conquering all of central Mexico from coast to coast as they sought more and more humans for the sacrifices their complex religion required.

Breathtaking Architectural Achievements

When the conquistadors first encountered the breathtaking architectural achievements of these civilizations, they were awestruck. These were edifices that matched anything seen in the revered world of ancient Greece and Rome. Some questioned whether the "savages" of these lands were capable of producing such wonders.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Europe was a politically fragmented backwater, and hardly poised to become the dominant force on the globe. How did Portugal, for example, a territory barely larger than Maine, eventually build a trading empire so dynamic it would eventually push out into the Atlantic and set the stage for Spain's historic expeditions of conquest?

Professor Eakin paints the complex political, cultural, and technological landscape of Spain and Portugal in their infancy.

You learn how they became the vanguard of the sleeping European giant that was soon to stride across the oceans and bridge two long-divided worlds.

Making Sense of Columbus

One biographer said of Columbus that, "Like a squid, he oozes out a cloud of ink around every hard square fact of his life."

Professor Eakin separates the facts about Columbus from the myths, and hones in on the significance of his voyage and the frenzy of exploration it set off:

You see how the ruthless conquest and subjugation of the Caribbean island peoples set a pattern that was played out across the Americas.
You're introduced to the ruthless and strategically brilliant Cortés as he vanquishes an empire of millions with just a few hundred Spanish soldiers.
You learn how Francisco Pizarro, inspired by Cortés, set out for Peru with the same dreams of gold and glory.

Eventually, all of Mexico and Central and South America would be defeated, and the European powers would begin to create new societies in these conquered lands.

A Voyage through Turbulent Times

The many topics covered by Professor Eakin as he moves through the turbulent times of the conquest also include:

The growth of the transatlantic slave trade as the conquerors began running out of the labor they needed to exploit the new territories
The spread of the plantation system as it became the lifeblood of the Portuguese colonial economy
The building of Spain's "golden age" on the backs of the indigenous peoples whose grueling labor mined the rich silver deposits of Mexico and South America
The "quest for souls" as Christian religious orders fanned out across the Americas
How the native peoples of the Americas resisted complete assimilation by creating new and colorful religions from the simmering pot of Christianity and long-held native beliefs.

In the final lectures, Professor Eakin looks at the foundations of the different societies in the Americas and looks forward, for better or for worse, to what future may emerge from this common past.

Eye Control Improvements

Eye Control enables users to interact with Windows using only their eyes. Based on feedback, with this build, we're updating the Eye Control settings to now span multiple pages, in order to give the options a bit more room to breathe.

Your Phone app-Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip introduces multiple new features

Continuing our strong partnership with Samsung from last August, we're excited to introduce exciting new features, which are now available on the latest Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip devices in select markets. You can enjoy copying and pasting text and images between your devices, black screen while in phone screen, Rich Communication Service messaging, and more!

Copy and paste between devices and vice versa

You can now copy and paste text and images between your phone and Windows 10 PC seamlessly. Simply turn on this feature in the Your Phone app settings and enjoy copying and pasting content with the familiar ctrl + C and ctrl + v commands on the PC or the tapping and holding gesture on your Android phone. It's that simple.

Copy and paste requirements:

- Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+/S20 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip devices in select markets
- PC running Windows 10 April 2018 Update or higher

Black screen while using phone screen

The phone screen feature is getting a boost. Users now have the option to turn off their smartphone screen to optimize battery consumption and protect the privacy of their phone's personal content. Black screen will show during a phone screen session on all supported devices (any device that supports Link to Windows). The black screen kicks in when the session is initiated and dismisses itself when it ends. The user can dismiss the black screen anytime by:

- Pressing the power button
- Swiping the device screen
- Activating Bixby
- Disabling the black screen at any time from the Settings page

Feature Requirements:

- Latest version of Link to Windows
- Phone screen supported devices

Rich Communication Service (RCS)

Your Phone app now supports RCS (send/receive) for a richer messaging experience on select Samsung devices, provided your mobile operator supports RCS. For users who have RCS messaging enabled on their device and use Samsung Messages app as the default app on their phone, they will now be able to send and receive these messages from the Your Phone app. Additionally, users will be able to see their messages get marked as read. If a user views messages on their PC, they will also be marked as read on the phone, removing the need to clear notifications on the phone.

RCS requirements:

- Samsung Galaxy S20 series running version 10.0 or higher
- PC running Windows 10 April 2018 Update or higher
- Mobile operator supporting RCS messaging

These features are gradually rolling out to Windows Insiders on Windows 10 Build 19H2+ and to the general public, so it may take a few days to be available inside the Your Phone app. Please make sure you have the latest versions of the Your Phone Companion, Link to Windows, and the Your Phone app. We plan on supporting additional Samsung devices in the future and will keep you posted.

- PDATE This change isn't quite ready to roll out, but we'll let you know once it is.
- In an effort to consolidate information, we're removing the Windows Security status details from the About Settings. This information is still available under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security.
- We're working on giving you control over whether apps can disable the screen capture border. The page isn't finished being wired up yet, but you'll see it listed under Privacy Settings.
- We've updated the "set time zone automatically" toggle in Time & Date settings to now be greyed out if location has been disabled.
- Based on feedback, we're updating the Scottish Gaelic keyboard in these ways:
. Pressing AltGR + 7 will now input ⁊ (U+204A TIRONIAN SIGN ET).
. Pressing ' will now directly insert that character (right single code).
. Pressing AltGr +' will now act as a dead key to combine an acute accent with a subsequent letter.
Fixes
- We fixed an issue for Chinese Insiders where Windows setup (for example, if you reset your PC) would get stuck after inputting your Microsoft Account details.
- We fixed an issue where, when you upgraded with certain languages like Japanese, the Installing Windows X% page wasn't rendering the text correctly (only boxes were displayed).
- We fixed an issue resulting in notifications sometimes having the wrong actions associated with them (for example, an unexpected reply box).
- We fixed an issue causing some attempts to update to a newer build to result in error 0x8007042b.
- We resolved the issue preventing the cloud recovery option for Reset this PC from working.
- We fixed an issue that could result in a green screen with Win32kbase.sys crash at session shutdown.
- We fixed an issue resulting in not being about to navigate between the Xbox Game Bar options using an Xbox Controller.
- We fixed an issue where the "set time zone automatically" toggle in Time & Date settings wouldn't stay enabled.
- We fixed an issue that could result in the Open With dialog not accepting the selection when opening PDFs.
- We fixed an issue resulting in Task Manager showing "Unavailable" DPI Awareness for all processes.

Recorded in three distinct positions on the scoring stage, CineHarps includes multiple articulations and timbres - plucked patches, precise glissandi, and incredibly robust effects. Whether a composition calls for classical harp techniques or a hybrid sound design approach, CineHarps offers composers the richest harp sounds available. As with all CineSymphony libraries, CineHarps library does not require you to purchase any additional sample playback software, and is licensed to work with the Native Instrument's free Kontakt Player. The Perspective Fader

CineHarps includes the addition of a new Perspective Mode. When Perspective Mode is turned on, a slider appears that performs a smooth crossfade between the Close, Room, and Surround microphone perspectives. This slider is automatically mapped to the mod wheel, giving you the ability to instantly control the relative depth of the instrument.

Gliss Mode

Gliss Mode transposes all of the white keys according to the selected notes and pedal diagram. This allows for easy playing of glissandi on the white keys. When the Gliss Mode button is active, note attacks in faster phrases are gently softened. The faster you play, the softer the attack.
Tip/Trick: Turning on Gliss Mode and leaving the pedals set to C major allows you to play chromatically, but still softens the onset of each note in faster phrases, which can result in more realistic trills, bisbigliandi and other types of playing.

Close Delay Button

Above the Close microphone perspective is small yellow button marked with a "D". Activating this button delays the sound of the Close perspective by approximately 15ms, which time aligns the Close with the Room and Surround Perspectives, resulting in a tighter sound. Turning off the Close Delay gives the instrument more depth and definition, which can be useful for featuring it in the mix.

Velocity Curve

The Velocity Curve control can be used to dial in exactly the dynamic you are looking for. Bias Forte makes it easier to play louder dynamics, and Bias Piano makes it easier to play soft dynamics. Linear allows the velocities to pass through unaffected. The Velocity Curve control can also be used to compensate for a MIDI keyboard with an undesirably hard or soft action. You can custo-draw a velocity curve by clicking and dragging with the mouse.

Release Mode

The Release Mode knob changes the way releases are played. "Muted" simulates the harpist immediately dampening the string at the note release, and "Let Vib." allows the string to ring out for its full duration ignoring any note releases. "Normale" provides a moderate decay to the release. This control along with the Release Volume control can be used to dial in the exact type of release behavior you are looking for.

Round Robin Borrowing

The RR Borrowing knob employes surrounding notes as additional round robins. A value of 6 results in up to +/- a tritone of borrowing providing up to an additional 12 round robins per note. A value of zero only plays two round robins per dynamic level. Higher values result in more round robins and more tonal variation.

Dynamic Range

The Dynamic Range knob can increase or decrease the overall dynamic range of the instrument. With the knob turned all the way up, low dynamics are almost completely inaudible and higher dynamics are very loud. With the knob turned all the way down the instrument plays all of the recorded dynamic layers, but at the same perceived volume.
